yataḥ so'pi priyaḥ premavaśaḥ . tatrāpi prīyamāṇāmiti prītamanā iti ca

viśeṣaṇaṃ tadānīṃ premollāsātiśayadyotakam . taṃ prati bhagavaccihna

darśanena tasyāpi tatra prītyatiśayaṃ vyañjayati īṣatsmitarociṣā gireti kare

spṛśanniti ca . asya śrīkṛṣṇopāsakatvaṃ śrīgopālatāpanīvākyena

darśitam .

tathā ca brahmasaṃhitāyāṃ [5.225]

tatra brahmābhavadbhūyaścaturvedī caturmukhaḥ .

sa jāto bhagavacchaktyā tatkālaṃ kila coditaḥ ..

sisṛkṣāyāṃ matiṃ cakre pūrvasaṃskārasaṃskṛtām .

dadarśa kevalaṃ dhvāntaṃ nānyatkimapi sarvataḥ ..

uvāca puratastasmai tasya divyā sarasvatī .

kāmaḥ kṛṣṇāya govindāya gopījana ityapi ..

vallabhāya priyā vahnerayaṃ te dāsyati priyam .

tapa tvaṃ tapa etena tava siddhirbhaviṣyati ..

atha tepe sa suciraṃ prīṇan govindamavyayam .. ityādi ..

atha sā bhagavattā ca nāropitā kintu svarūpabhūtaivetyetamarthaṃ punar

viśeṣataḥ sthāpayituṃ prakaraṇāntaramārabhyate . tatra vastunastasya

śaktitvamāha .

vedyaṃ vāstavamatra vastvityasya viśeṣaṇābhyāmeva

śivadaṃ tāpatrayonmūlanamiti . [bhāgavatam 1.1.2]

śivaṃ paramānandaḥ taddānaṃ svarūpaśaktyā . tāpatrayaṃ māyāśakti

kāryaṃ tadunmūlanaṃ ca tayaiveta .. śrīvyāsaḥ ..9..

te ca māyāśaktisvarūpaśaktī parasparaviruddhe tathā tayorvṛttayaśca

svasvagaṇa eva parasparaviruddhā api bahvyaḥ . tathāpi tāsāmekaṃ

nidhānaṃ tadevetyāha .

yacchaktayo vadatāṃ vādināṃ vai

vivādasaṃvādabhuvo bhavanti .

kurvanti caiṣāṃ muhurātmamohaṃ

tasmai namo ‘nantaguṇāya bhūmne .. [bhāgavatam 6.4.26]

ānupūrvyā svasvavarge uttamamadhyamakaniṣṭhabhāvena vartamānā

vividhaśaktayaḥ prāyaḥ parasparaṃ viruddhagatayo'pi yasmin yadāśritya

śaktestu svābhāvikarūpatvamāha

sattvaṃ rajastama iti trivṛdekamādau

sūtraṃ mahānahamiti pravadanti jīvam .

jñānakriyārthaphalasvarūpatayoruśaktir

brahmaiva bhāti sadasacca tayoḥ paraṃ yat .. [bhāgavatam 11.3.38]

brahmaiva urūśaktiranekātmakaśaktimadbhāti . evakāreṇa brahmaṇa eva

sā śaktirna tu kalpiteti svābhāvikarūpatvaṃ śakterbodhayati . tatra hetuḥ .

yadbrahma yatsthūlaṃ kāryaṃ pṛthivyādirūpamasatsūkṣmaṃ kāraṇaṃ

prakṛtyādirūpaṃ tayorbahiraṅgavaibhavayoḥ paraṃ svarūpavaibhavaṃ śrī

vaikuṇṭhādirūpaṃ taṭasthavaibhavaṃ śuddhajīvarūpaṃ ca . anyathā tat

tadbhāvāsiddhiḥ .

kiṃrūpatayā tattadrūpam . tatrāha jñānakriyārthaphalarūpatayā mahad

ādilakṣaṇajñānaśaktirūpatvena, sūtrādilakṣaṇakriyāśaktirūpatvena,

tanmātrādilakṣaṇārtharūpatvena, prakṛtilakṣaṇatattatsarvaikya

rūpatvena sadasadrūpam . phalarūpatvena tayoḥ param . tatra phalaṃ

puruṣārthasvarūpaṃ savaibhavaṃ bhagavadākhyaṃ cidvastu tad

anumatatvātśuddhajīvākhyaṃ cidvastu ca . etena jñānakriyādirūpeṇorū

śaktitvaṃ vyañjitam . śakteḥ svābhāvikarūpatvaṃ sapramāṇaṃ spaṣṭayati .

ādau yadekaṃ brahma tadeva sattvaṃ rajastama iti trivṛtpradhānaṃ tataḥ

kriyāśaktyā sūtraṃ jñānaśaktyā mahāniti . tato'hamahaṅkāra iti . tadeva

ca jīvaṃ śuddhasvarūpaṃ jīvātmānaṃ tadupalakṣaṇakaṃ vaikuṇṭhādi

vaibhavaṃ ca pravadanti vedāḥ . te ca sadaiva saumyedamagra āsīdity

ādyāḥ [Chāū 6.2.1] .

ādāvekaṃ tatastattadrūpamiti śakteḥ svābhāvikatvamāyātam

anyasyāsadbhāvenaupādhikatvāyogāt . svarūpavaibhavasyāṅgapratyaṅgavan

nityasiddhatve'pi, sūryasattayā tadraśmiparamāṇuvṛndasyeva, tatsattayā

labdhasattākatvāttadupādānatvaṃ tadādikatvaṃ ca syāt . tasya bhāsā sarvam

idaṃ vibhātīti [Kaṭha 2.2.15] śruteḥ .

śakteracintyatvaṃ svābhāvikatvaṃ coktaṃ śrīviṣṇupurāṇe

nirguṇasyāprameyasya

śuddhasyāpyamalātmanaḥ .

kathaṃ sargādikartādikartṛtvaṃ

brahmaṇo'bhyupagamyata .. [Viড় 1.3.1]

iti maitreyapraśnānantaraṃ śrīparāśara uvāca

śaktayaḥ sarvabhāvānām

acintyajñānagocarāḥ .

yato'to brahmaṇastāstu

sargādyā bhāvaśaktayaḥ .

bhavanti tapasāṃ śreṣṭha

atra śrīdharasvāmiṭīkā ca

tadevaṃ brahmaṇaḥ sṛṣṭyādikartṛtvamuktam . tatra śaṅkate nirguṇasyeti

. sattvādiguṇarahitasya, aprameyasya deśakālādyaparicchinnasya śuddhasya

adehasya sahakāriśūnyasyeti vā, amalātmanaḥ puṇyapāpasaṃskāra

śūnyasya, rāgādiśūnyasyeti vā . evambhūtasya brahmaṇaḥ kathaṃ sargādi

kartṛtvamiṣyate, etadvilakṣaṇasyaiva loke ghaṭādiṣu kartṛtvādidarśanād

ityarthaḥ . pariharati śaktaya iti sārdhena . loke hi sarveṣāṃ bhāvānāṃ maṇi

mantrādīnāṃ śaktayaḥ acintyajñānagocarāḥ . acintyaṃ tarkāsahaṃ yaj

jñānaṃ kāryānyathānupapattipramāṇakaṃ tasya gocarāḥ santi .

yadvā acintyā bhinnābhinnatvādivikalpaiścintayitumaśakyāḥ kevalam

arthāpattijñānagocarāḥ santi . yadevamato brahmaṇo'pi tāstathāvidhāḥ

śaktayaḥ sargādihetubhūtāḥ bhāvaśaktayaḥ svabhāvasiddhāḥ śaktayaḥ

santyeva . pāvakasya dāhakatvādiśaktivat . ato guṇādihīnasyāpyacintya

śaktimattvādbrahmaṇaḥ sargādikartṛtvaṃ ghaṭata ityarthaḥ . śrutiśca

na tasya kāryaṃ karaṇaṃ ca vidyate

na tatsamaścābhyadhikaśca dṛśyate .

parāsya śaktirvividhaiva śrūyate

svābhāvikī jñānabalakriyā ca .. [śvetū 6.8]

māyāṃ tu prakṛtiṃ vidyān

māyinaṃ tu maheśvaram .. [śvetū 4.10]

yadvā evaṃ yojanā sarveṣāṃ bhāvānāṃ pāvakasyoṣṇatāśaktivadacintya

jñānagocarāḥ śaktayaḥ santyeva . brahmaṇaḥ punastāḥ svabhāvabhūtāḥ

svarūpādabhinnāḥ śaktayaḥ . parāsya śaktirvividhaiva śrūyate iti śruteḥ .

ato maṇimantrādibhiragnauṣṇyavanna kenacidvihantuṃ śakyante . ata eva

tasya niraṅkuśamaiśvaryam . tathā ca śrutiḥ

sa vā ayamasya sarvasya vaśī sarvasyeśānaḥ sarvasyādhipatirityādiḥ [Bāū

4.4.22] .

yata evamato brahmaṇo hetoḥ sargādyā bhavanti nātra kācidanupapattiḥ ity

eṣā .

atra praśnaḥ so'yaṃ brahma khalu nirviśeṣameveti pakṣamāśritya, parihāras

tu saviśeṣameveti pakṣamāśritya kṛta iti jñeyam . ata eva praśne

śuddhasyetyapi vyākhyātam . śuddhatvaṃ hyatra kevalatvaṃ matam, tacca

yuktaṃ, parihāre brahmaṇi śaktisthāpanāt . pūrvapakṣimate brahmaṇi śaktir

api nāstīti gamyate . tataḥ praśnavākye'pyevamarthāntaraṃ jñeyam

nirguṇasya prākṛtāprākṛtaguṇarahitasya, ataeva pramāṇāgocarasya tata

evāmalātmano'pi śuddhasya, na tu sphaṭikāderiva paracchāyayānyathā

dṛṣṭasya . tadevaṃ nirviśeṣatāmavalambya praśne siddhe . parihāre tu

prathamayojanāyāṃ nirviśeṣapakṣamanādṛtya brahmaṇi kartṛtvapratipatty

arthaṃ śaktayaḥ sādhitāḥ . dvitīyayojanāyāṃ tatra ca viśeṣapratipattyarthaṃ

yathā jalādiṣu kadāciduṣṇatādikamāgantukaṃ syāttathā brahmaṇi na syād

iti nirdhāritam . na tatsamaścābhyadhikaśca dṛśyate iti śruteḥ .

tathā maṇimantrādibhiriti vyatireka eva dṛṣṭānta ityato brahmaśaktayastu

nānyena parābhūtā ityetacca darśitam . kiṃ ca, brahmapadena sarvaṃ khalv

idaṃ brahmeti prasiddhiṃ vyajya sattvādiguṇamayamāyāyāstadanyatve'pi,

nirguṇasyeti prākṛtaguṇairaspṛṣṭatvamaṅgīkṛtya teṣāṃ bahiraṅgatvaṃ

svīkṛtam .

tadetadeva māyāṃ ca prakṛtiṃ vidyādityeṣā śrutiḥ svīcakāra . māyāṃ ca

tadapāśrayāmitivanmaheśvaratvānmāyāyā bahiraṅgāyā āśraya iti tāṃ

parābhūya sthitamiti ca labhyate . tasmātpūrvavadatrāpi śaktimātrasya

svābhāvikatvaṃ māyādoṣāspṛṣṭatvaṃ ca sādhitam . ataeva śrīgītopaniṣatsu

ca

jñeyaṃ yattatpravakṣyāmi yajjñātvā'mṛtamaśnute .

anādimatparaṃ brahma na sattannāsaducyate ..

sarvataḥ pāṇipādaṃ tadityādi . [gītā 13.1213]

atreyaṃ prakriyā ekameva tatparamatattvaṃ svābhāvikācintyaśaktyā

sarvadaiva svarūpatadrūpavaibhavajīvapradhānarūpeṇa

caturdhāvatiṣṭhate . sūryāntarmaṇḍalasthateja iva maṇḍalatadbahirgata

raśmitatpraticchavirūpeṇa . evameva śrīviṣṇupurāṇe

ekadeśasthitasyāgnerjyotsnā vistāriṇī yathā .

parasya brahmaṇaḥ śaktistathedamakhilaṃ jagad .. iti .. [Viড় 1.22.56]

yasya bhāsā sarvamidaṃ vibhātīti śruteḥ . atra vyāpakatvādinā tattat

samāveśādyanupapattiśca śakteracintyatvenaiva parāhatā . durghaṭa

ghaṭatvaṃ hyacintyatvam . śaktiśca sā tridhā antaraṅgā bahiraṅgā

taṭasthā ca . tatrāntaraṅgayā svarūpaśaktyākhyayā pūrṇenaiva svarūpeṇa

vaikuṇṭhādisvarūpavaibhavarūpeṇa ca tadavatiṣṭhate . taṭasthayā raśmi

sthānīyacidekātmaśuddhajīvarūpeṇa, bahiraṅgayā māyākhyayā

praticchavigatavarṇaśāvalyasthānīyatadīyabahiraṅgavaibhavajaḍātma

pradhānarūpeṇa ceti caturdhvātvam . ataeva tadātmakatvena jīvasyeva

taṭasthaśaktitvaṃ pradhānasya ca māyāntarbhūtatvamabhipretya śakti

trayaṃ śrīviṣṇupurāṇe gaṇitam

viṣṇuśaktiḥ parā proktā kṣetrajñākhyā tathāparā .

avidyākarmasaṃjñānyā tṛtīyā śaktiriṣyate .. [Viড় 6.7.61]

tayā tirohitatvācca śaktiḥ kṣetrajñasaṃjñitā .

sarvabhūteṣu bhūpāla tāratamyena vartate .. [Viড় 6.7.63] iti ..

avidyā karma kāryaṃ yasyāḥ sā tatsaṃjñā māyetyarthaḥ . yadyapīyaṃ

bahiraṅgā tathāpyasyāstaṭasthaśaktimayamapi jīvamāvarituṃ

sāmarthyamastītyāha tayeti . tāratamyena tatkṛtāvaraṇasya brahmādi

sthāvarānteṣu deheṣu laghugurubhāvena vartate ityarthaḥ . taduktam

yathā sammohito jīva iti [bhāgavatam 1.7.5] . yayaivācintyamāyayā jñeyam .

pradhānasya māyāvyaṅgyatvaṃ cāgre darśayiṣyate . atrāntaraṅgatva

taṭasthatvabahiraṅgatvādinaiva teṣāmekātmakānāṃ tattatsāmyam, na tu

sarvātmaneti tattatsthānīyatvamevoktam . na tu tattadrūpatvaṃ tatastat

taddoṣā api nāvakāśaṃ labhante iti .. śrīpippalāyano nimim ..14..

tadevaṃ sarvābhirmilitvā cidacicchaktirbhagavān . evameva

parameśvaratvena stūyamānaṃ brahmāṇaṃ prati hiraṇyakaśipunāpyuktam

cidacicchaktiyuktāyeti [bhāgavatam 7.3.34] .

cidvastunaścidvastvantarāśrayatvaṃ, raśmyābhāsādijyotiṣo jyotir

maṇḍalāśrayatvamiva . tatra taṭasthākhyā jīvaśaktiryathāvasaraṃ

paramātmasandarbhe vivaraṇīyā .

atha antaraṅgākhyāvivaraṇāya bahiraṅgāpyuddiśyate ye cāparā parā ceti

. śrīviṣṇupurāṇe śrūyate

sarvabhūteṣu sarvātman yā śaktiraparā tava .

guṇāśrayā namastasyai śāśvatāyai sureśvara ..

yātītagocarā vācāṃ manasāṃ cāviśeṣaṇā .

jñānijñānaparicchedyā vande tāmīśvarīṃ parām .. iti .. [Viড় 1.19.767]

saiṣā bahuvṛttikaiva jñeyā, parāsya śaktirbahudhaiva śrūyate iti śruteḥ ..15..

tatra bahiraṅgāmāha

ṛte'rthaṃ yatpratīyeta

na pratīyeta cātmani .

tadvidyādātmano māyāṃ

yathābhāso yathā tamaḥ .. [bhāgavatam 2.9.33]

arthaṃ paramārthabhūtaṃ māṃ vinā yatpratīyeta, matpratītau tatpratīty

abhāvāt . matto bahireva yasya pratītirityarthaḥ . yaccātmani na pratīyate,

yasya ca madāśrayatvaṃ vinā svataḥ pratītirnāstītyarthaḥ . tathā lakṣaṇaṃ

vastu ātmano mama parameśvarasya māyāṃ jīvamāyā guṇamāyeti dvy

ātmikāṃ māyākhyaśaktiṃ vidyāt . atra śuddhajīvasyāpi cid

rūpatvāviśeṣeṇa tadīyaraśmisthānīyatvena ca svāntaḥpāta eva vivakṣitaḥ

. tatrāsyā dvyātmikatvenābhidhānaṃ dṛṣṭāntadvaividhyena labhyate . tatra

jīvamāyākhyasya prathamāṃśasya tādṛśatvaṃ dṛṣṭāntena spaṣṭayann

asambhāvanāṃ nirasyati yathābhāsa iti . ābhāso jyotirbimbasya svīya

prakāśādvyavahitapradeśe kathañciducchalitapraticchaviviśeṣaḥ . sa yathā

tasmādbahireva pratīyate, na ca taṃ vinā tasya pratītistathā sāpītyarthaḥ

. anena praticchaviparyāyābhāsadharmatvena tasyāmābhāsākhyatvamapi

dhvanitam . atastatkāryasyābhāsākhyatvaṃ kvacitābhāsaśca nirodhaścety

ādau [bhāgavatam 2.10.7] . atra sa yathā kvacidatyantodbhaṭātmā svacākcikya

cchaṭāpatitanetrāṇāṃ netraprakāśamāvṛṇoti . tamāvṛtya ca

svenātyantodbhaṭatejastvenaiva draṣṭṛnetraṃ vyākulayan svopakaṇṭhe

varṇaśāvalyamudgirati . kadācittadeva pṛthagbhāvena nānākāratayā

pariṇamayati . tatheyamapi jīvajñānamāvṛṇoti . sattvādiguṇasāmyarūpāṃ

guṇamāyākhyāṃ jaḍāṃ prakṛtimudgirati . kadācitpṛthagbhūtān sattvādi

guṇānnānākāratayā pariṇamayati ceti jñeyam . taduktam ekadeśa

sthitasyāgner [Viড় 1.22.56] ityādi .

tathā cāyurvedavidaḥ

jagadyoneranicchasya cidānandaikarūpiṇaḥ .

puṃso'sti prakṛtirnityā praticchāyeva bhāsvataḥ ..

acetanāpi caitanyayogena paramātmanaḥ .

akarodviśvamakhilamanityaṃ nāṭakākṛtir .. iti ..

tadevaṃ nimittāṃśo jīvamāyā upādānāṃśo guṇamāyetyagre'pi

vivecanīyam . athaivaṃ siddhaṃ guṇamāyākhyaṃ dvitīyamapyaṃśaṃ

dṛṣṭāntena spaṣṭayati, yathā tama iti . tamaḥśabdenātra pūrvoktaṃ tamaḥ

prāyaṃ varṇaśāvalyamucyate . tadyathā tanmūlajyotiṣyasadapi tad

āśrayatvaṃ vinā na sambhavati tadvadiyamapīti . athavā māyāmātra

nirūpaṇa eva pṛthakdṛṣṭāntadvayam . tatrābhāsadṛṣṭānto vyākhyātaḥ .

tamodṛṣṭāntaśca . yathāndhakāre jyotiṣo'nyatraiva pratīyate, jyotirvinā ca

na pratīyate jyotirātmanā cakṣuṣaiva tatpratīterna pṛṣṭhādineti tatheyam

apītyevaṃ jñeyam . tataścāṃśadvayaṃ tu pravṛttibhedenaivohyaṃ na tu

dṛṣṭāntabhedena . prāktanadṛṣṭāntadvedhābhiprāyeṇa tu pūrvasyā

ābhāsaparyāyacchāyāśabdena kvacitprayogaḥ uttarasyāstamaḥ śabdenaiva

ceti . yathā sasarja chāyayāvidyāṃ pañcaparvāṇamagrataḥ [bhāgavatam 3.20.18] ity

atra . yathā ca kvāhaṃ tamo mahadaham [bhāgavatam 10.14.11] ityādau .

pūrvatrāvidyāvidyākhyanimittaśaktivṛttikatvājjīvviṣayakatvena jīva

māyātvam .

tathā sasarjetyādau chāyāśaktiṃ māyāmavalambya sṛṣṭyārambhe brahmā

svayamavidyāmāvirbhāvitavānityarthaḥ .

vidyāvidye mama tanū vddhyuddhava śarīriṇām .

bandhamokṣakarī ādye māyayā me vinirmitte .. [bhāgavatam 11.11.3] ityuktatvāt

.

anayorāvirbhāvabhedaśca śrūyate . tatra pūrvasyāḥ pādme śrīkṛṣṇa

satyabhāmāsaṃvādīyakārttikamāhātmye devagaṇakṛtamāyāstutau

iti stutavantaste devāstejomaṇḍalasaṃsthitam .

dadṛśurgagane tatra tejovyāptadigantaram ..

tanmadhyādbhāratīṃ sarve śuśruvurvyomacāriṇīm .

ahameva tridhā bhinnā tiṣṭhāmi trividhairguṇaiḥ .. ityādi ..

uttarasyāḥ pādmottarakhaṇḍe asaṅkhyaṃ prakṛtisthānaṃ niviḍadhvāntam

avayayamiti .. śrībhagavān brahmāṇam ..16..

atha svarūpabhūtākhyāmantaraṅgāṃ śaktiṃ sarvasyāpi pravṛtty

anyathānupapattyā tāvadāha dvābhyām

yanna spṛśanti na vidurmanobuddhīndriyāsavaḥ .

antarbahiśca vitataṃ vyomavattannato'smyaham .. [bhāgavatam 6.16.23]

dehendriyaprāṇamanodhiyo'mī

yadaṃśabiddhāḥ pracaranti karmasu .

naivānyadā lohamivāprataptaṃ

sthāneṣu taddraṣṭrupadeśameti .. [bhāgavatam 6.16.24]

ṭīkā ca yadbrahma vyomavadvitatamapi asavaḥ prāṇāḥ kriyāśaktya na

spṛśanti, manādīni ca jñānaśaktyā na viduḥ, tadbrahma nato'smi . teṣaṃ

tajjñāne hetumāha . dehendriyādayo'mī yadaṃśabiddhā yac

caitanyāṃśenāviṣṭāḥ santaḥ karmasu svasvaviṣayeṣu pracaranti . yathā

aprāptaṃ lohaṃ na dahati . ato yathā lohamagniśaktyaiva dāhakaṃ satagniṃ

na dahati, evaṃ brahmagatajñānakriyāśaktibhyāṃ pravartamānā dehādayas

tanna spṛśanti na viduśceti bhāvaḥ . ityeṣā .

atrādvaitaśārīrake'pi sāṅkhyamākṣipyoktam, yathā atha punaḥ sākṣi

nimittamīkṣitṛtvaṃ pradhānasya kalpyeta yathāgninimittamayaḥpiṇḍāder

dagdhṛtvaṃ, tathā sati yannimittamīkṣitatṛtvaṃ pradhānasya, tadeva

sarvajñaṃ mukhyaṃ jagataḥ kāraṇamiti [śaṅkarabhāṣya, 1.1.5] .
