         indro nanā ma ca yathā ṅ ghri-nakhā murā rer                    agryā m amuṣ ya mukuṭ e maṇ itā m avā puḥ |        cakranda cā tha sa yathā mbaka-kairavā mbu-                    mā dhvī ka-vidrava-vidhau vidhutā m agacchan ||11|| [vasantatilakā ]   When Indra offered respects, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a’s toe nails shone brilliantly among Indra’s crown jewels. When Indra’s lotus eyes began to flow with tears like honey, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a’s two nails became like moons.   [33] atha krandati saṅ krandane paṅ kaja-locanaḥ saṅ kocitaḥ kirī ṭ ā gram agra-hastena sā graham udastam ā carann uvā ca—   When he wept, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a, being a little taken aback, raised him up with his hand affectionately and spoke to him.   [34] bhagavann, evam ayuktaṁ mā kā rṣ ī r, ā rṣ ī ṇ ā ṁ vā ṇ ī nā ṁ tvam eka evā tirekataḥ parā yaṇ am asi |   “O lord! Do not do such unsuitable acts. You are the only shelter of all words of the wise. ”   [35] vajrapā ṇ is tu mū rdhni prasajjitā ñ jali-pā ṇ itayā salajjaṁ svayaṁ svavajra-hata iva maunam evā sasajja |    When he placed his hands on Indra’s head, shamed Indra remained silent, as if struck by a thunderbolt.   yataḥ —          parasya kā yaṁ badhnā ti tejasā vacasā manaḥ |        ś aktaḥ ś aktaś ca so’yaṁ yas tasya bhaktaḥ kathaṁ na kaḥ? ||12|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   Who will not become the devotee of that person who is strong and affectionate and can bind another’s body by his power, and his mind by his words?   [36] tad evaṁ tasya tejasā kṛ payā ca suparvā dhipasya vividhā gatir jā tā,    yathā —          anyatra candrati hariḥ ś akre tarhi sma sū ryati |        ś akro’pi sū ryaty anyasmin khadyotati harau sma saḥ ||13|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   Kṛ ṣ ṇ a’s power and affection influenced Indra. Acting like the moon on others, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a acted like the sun on Indra. Indra acted like the sun on others, but acted like a firefly in front of Kṛ ṣ ṇ a.          yadā maunaṁ sasajjā sau tadā mū ka ivā bhavat |        yadā tu stotum ā rabdhas tadā gā d vā vadū katā m ||14|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   When Indra was silent, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a remained mute. When Indra began praising him, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a became eloquent.          yathā mū ṁ stutavā n indras tathā vaktuṁ na ś akyate |        ś rī -vrajendra yataḥ so’yaṁ tvattaḥ saṅ kucati sphuṭ am ||15|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   No one can describe how Indra spoke when praising Kṛ ṣ ṇ a. O Nanda! Controlling himself, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a is becoming shy in front of you.   [37] avamā nam anā locya kavamā naḥ sa punar evam añ jasā tad upasañ jahā ra—   Not noticing his disregard, Indra then concluded:          mayedaṁ bhagavan goṣ ṭ ha-nā ś ā yā sā ra-vā yubhiḥ |        ceṣ ṭ itaṁ vihate yajñ e mā ninā tī vra-manyunā || [BhP 10. 27. 12] iti |   My dear Lord, when my sacrifice was disrupted I became fiercely angry because of false pride. Thus I tried to destroy your cowherd community with severe rain and wind.   [38] ayaṁ ca prahasya provā ca—          mayā te’kā ri maghavan makha-bhaṅ go’nugṛ hṇ atā | [BhP 10. 27. 28]        yan mat-pitrā di-sac-chreṣ ṭ hā n nā tikrā mer mama smaran ||16|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   Smiling Kṛ ṣ ṇ a spoke: My dear Indra, it was out of mercy that I stopped the sacrifice meant for you. Remembering me, you should not surpass the best devotees like my father.          suraś ced viṣ ayā bhoga-garvā d roceta vā sava |        tadā vipraś ca ś obheta ś auṣ kalaṁ -manyatā -madā t ||17|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   If the devatā s become proud of their opulence, the brā hmaṇ as will become proud of eating fish.          aham unmū layiṣ yā mi ś akra tvad-vairi-pakṣ agā n |        kathaṁ man manyase bhī tiṁ nī tim eva pravartaya ||18|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   O Indra! I will uproot your enemies. Why do you fear me? Please act properly.   [39] atha dū rataḥ surabhir abhī tam iva tam abhī kṣ ya, huṅ kā rataḥ sva-santā na-santā nam ā kā rya, kā rya-viduṣ ī sa-tṛ ṣ ṇ a-nayanā kṛ ṣ ṇ am abhijagā ma |   Seeing from a distance that Indra had lost his fear, Surabhī mooed and called the other cows. Knowing what to do, with eager eyes, she approached Kṛ ṣ ṇ a.   [40] kṛ ṣ ṇ aś ca svajā ti-rī tikā vasthitita evā vanamantī m iva tā m imā ṁ sahasā sahasā m asasambhramam añ jali-sañ jita-karaḥ sañ jagā da—mā tā kathaṁ samā yā tā?   When Kṛ ṣ ṇ a saw Surabhī offering respects as a cow he smiled. Folding his hands in reverence he spoke. “O mother, why have you come? ”   [41] tataś cā ś iṣ aḥ siṣ ā santī tā ḥ sambhramā d anudbhā vya surabhy uvā ca—          ete mad-anvayā dhanyā gotvaṁ tvā ṁ sevituṁ gatā ḥ |        ahaṁ tu nedṛ k-puṇ yā yad gocaratvaṁ ca nā gatā ||19|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   Though desiring to give all blessings, she could not do so. She said:   My species has become fortunate. They have come to earth to do service to you. I am not fortunate since I cannot see you.   athavā —        daitya-ghā tī bhavā n nityaṁ sarva-lokaika-pā lakaḥ |        vayaṁ ca loka-madhye smas tvan-nā thā ḥ svata eva tat ||20|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   However, you are the killer of demons and the protector of all planets. I also dwell in these planets. You are naturally my master.   [42] tatas tad idaṁ kiñ cit prā rthaye—          go-sū ktaṁ bhā ṣ ate gā vaḥ padaṁ sarva-suparvaṇ ā m |        tad brahmā dau suparvatvam avan vinda gavendratā m ||21|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   I pray as follows: The Go-sū kta says that the cows are the abode of the devatā s and all festivals. Accept the position of Indra for the cows and be worshipped by Brahmā and the devatā s.          tavedaṁ kiyad aiś varyaṁ yad brahmā vadhi-pā lanaṁ |        vaikuṇ ṭ ha-kuṇ ṭ hatā -kā ri yasya goloka-vaibhavam ||22|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   Protecting the devatā s up to Brahmā is a small show of your power. Goloka has such power that it overshadows Vaikuṇ ṭ ha.          sarvasya pā lakā t kvā pi khaṇ ḍ a-pā lanam iṣ yate |        jagat-prakā ś akā d bhā nor nija-dhā ma-prakā ś avat ||23|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   The sun illuminates a house because it illuminates the universe. Since you protect everyone, you also protect as small portion of it.          nā smā kaṁ kevalam idaṁ mataṁ kintu vidher api |        yad bhaved asya cendrasya durbuddheḥ ś uddhi-bhā vanam ||24|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   This is not only my idea, but the opinion of Brahmā, so that foolish Indra will be purified.          tvat-kṛ pā yā ḥ paraṁ sthā naṁ vayam ity eṣ a vā savaḥ |        ā ś iś riye yad asmā ṁ s tad dvā ra-mā trā ya kalpate ||25|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   We cows are the object of your mercy. Indra has taken shelter of us as a medium of your mercy.          yasmā n mṛ gyati tā m eva mad-vidhā d bhavataḥ kṛ pā m |        kū pā d iva rasā ntaḥ -sthā ṁ tarṣ ī ghana-rasa-sthitim ||26|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   As a thirsty man seeks a well to get its water, Indra seeks us to receive your mercy.            tad eva deva paś yendraḥ paś yaṁ s tava pada-dvayam |        sū cayaty abhiṣ ekaṁ te netra-dhā rā -sahasrataḥ ||27|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   O lord! Please look. Seeing your lotus feet, Indra is bathing them with tears from his thousand eyes.   [43] atha tatra sacita-saṅ kocanena vilocanena gocaritā numateḥ ś rī -gokula-pateḥ prasā dam ā sā dayantī surarṣ i-sura-mā tṛ -surapati-suratatibhir upasura-prabhṛ tibhiś ca sā kaṁ surabhī sarabhasam asura-mardanaṁ puraskartuṁ puraḥ -saratā m avā pa |   When Kṛ ṣ ṇ a with modest eyes gave permission, Surabhī along with Nā rada, Aditi, Indra, Varuṇ a, and the Gandharvas, quickly prepared to worship him by bathing him, in order to get his mercy.   [45] tataś ca surabhir abhihitavatī —ś rī mad-vrajendra-kula-candra! bhavad-bhavadī ya-svī ya-caraṇ ā nā m anucaraṇ atas tā vad atratyā ni tī rthā ni sā rthakā ny eva jā tā ni | dhenavaś ca yuṣ mad-vihita-dugdha-dhayanā d dhanyatā m adhuḥ |   Surabhī said: O moon of Nanda’s family! At this place, all the sacred places such as Yamunā have become successful by serving the feet of you, your friends and your relatives. The cows have become fortunate because you have drunk their milk.     [46] tataś ca svarga-sthita-tī rtha-varasya gaṅ gā -nirjharasya tathā tmī yasyā py ū dho-bharasya tvad-ā rā dhanayā vyarthatā vadhā ya payaḥ samā hartuṁ bhavantaṁ vidhim arthayā mahe | athavā, yathā diś yate tathā vaś yaṁ prathayā maḥ |   I request permission to use some of this milk and some water from the Gaṅ gā, the sacred river of heaven, so that milk from my udder the water does not become useless. I will do as you say.     [47] kṛ ṣ ṇ aḥ sa-smitam uvā ca—yatheṣ ṭ ham anuṣ ṭ hī yatā m |   Smiling, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a said: do as you please.   [48] athā bhravā hana-bhrū -bhramaṇ ataḥ sa-sambhramam abhra-mā taṅ gaḥ svaḥ -saṅ gata-gaṅ gā taḥ samuddaṇ ḍ ita-ś uṇ ḍ ā -daṇ ḍ enā mbhaḥ -sambhṛ tā n nidhi-kumbhā n nirvilambam eva muhur api lambhayā mā sa | surabhir api surabhi-payasā sura-pati-sarasī m upagiriṁ vibharā ñ cakā ra |    With the movement of Indra’s brow, Airā vata carefully raised his truck upwards and quickly brought a jeweled pot full of water from Gaṅ gā in the heavens. Surabhī filled up Indra Sarovara, near the mountain, with milk.   tataś ca—        vā dya-spṛ g-gī ta-nṛ tyair upasura-sadasā ṁ stotra-mantrair ṛ ṣ ī ṇ ā ṁ        harṣ ā ndolā tikolā hala-jaya-ninadair brahma-rudrā dikā nā m |        utsarpad-bhaktir indraḥ saha harid-adhipais tad-gaṇ aiś cā bhyaṣ iñ cat        kṛ ṣ ṇ aṁ yenaiva sarve’py ahaha sukha-sudhā sikta-rū pā babhū vuḥ ||28||                                                                                                 [sragdharā ]   Indra, with strong bhakti in his heart, along with his relatives and the protectors of the directions, bathed Kṛ ṣ ṇ a while the Gandharvas danced and sang, the sages uttered mantras, and Brahmā and Ś iva shouted “Victory! ” in bliss. By this they all bathed in the nectar of happiness.          aditir mā tṛ -kṛ tyā ni svasṛ -kṛ tyā ni pā rvatī |        garutmā n bhṛ tya-kṛ tyā ni cā hṛ tyā tra mudaṁ yayau ||29|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   Aditi performed a mother’s duties, Pā ravatī performed a sister’s duties, Garuḍ a performed a servant’s duties, and they all attained bliss.     [49] tad evaṁ yadā nirṇ iktatayā devagaṇ as tam asikta, tadā —          kī rtir yā tā digantaṁ parimala-valanā py abhramī d bhū mi-golaṁ        maṅ galya-dhvā na-dhā rā dig-anuga-kariṇ ā ṁ prā viś at karṇ a-gartam |        itthaṁ sarvatra harṣ a-prasara-bhara-vara-prā vṛ ṣ ā prā ṇ i-jā teḥ        ś ā te jā te’pi kaṁ saḥ saraṭ a-paṭ ala-rā ṭ -ceṣ ṭ ayā veṣ ṭ yate sma ||30||                                                                                                      [sragdharā ]   When the devatā s bathed him, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a’s beauty spread in all directions. The fragrance of his limbs in contact with the perfumed substances travelled throughout the universe. Waves of auspicious sound entered the ears of the elephants of the directions. Though all living beings became happy because of the spread of bliss, Kaṁ sa was surrounded by lizard-like leaders shaking their heads.   [50] tad evaṁ sa vrajendra-nandanaḥ sarva-dig-gatā n yadā digye, tadā tu---          yā vad viṣ ṇ upadaṁ vibhā ti parama-vyomā di tā vaty api        ś rī -goloka-padaṁ praś astim ayate lakṣ mī -parā rdhā spadam |        tatrā pī ndratayā vibhā si nitarā ṁ govinda-nā mnā yathā        tena tvaṁ jagad aṅ ga tadvad avatā d ity ucire te samam ||31|| [ś ā rdū la]   “As Kṛ ṣ ṇ a protects all the people everywhere, his abode Goloka, the shelter of hundreds of trillions of Lakṣ mī s, is most worthy of praise among all planets in the spiritual world. As you reside there with the name Govinda you should protect this world using that name. ” In this way the devatā s spoke.            ā kā ś a-kusumaiḥ sā rdham ā kā ś a-vacanaṁ tadā |        govinda iti yad vittaṁ tataḥ kim iva sā dbhutam? ||32|| [anuṣ ṭ ubh]   At that moment a voice in the sky said “Govinda” and flowers fell. What can be as astonishing as this?          indraś chatraṁ vivasvā n bahu-vidha-madhurā laṅ kṛ tī nā ṁ kadambaṁ        brahmā lī lā bjam ī ś aḥ svaracita-muralī ṁ mā dhavā ya vyatā nī t |        anyaṁ ca svasvam arthaṁ tridaś a-pati-tatir yat punaḥ sarvam eṣ ā ṁ        pū rvaṁ cā pū rvam ā sī d abhavad atha tad-aṅ gā vṛ tī jyā su pū jyam ||33||                                                                                                      [sragdharā ]   Indra presented him an umbrella, the sun god gave him attractive ornaments, Brahmā gave him a blue lotus, Ś iva gave him a flute he had made, and other devatā s gave various gifts, which became most remarkable after giving them to him, as the gifts became objects of worship after being used to worship the devatā s of his limbs.   [51] tad evaṁ sthite—          rā jad-rā jā sanam upari-gacchatra-citraṁ suramya-        bhrā myad-vā lavya-jana-yugalaṁ prasphurad-divya-veś am |        kṛ ṣ ṇ aṁ dṛ ṣ ṭ vā sura-parivṛ taṁ stabdha-netrā ṇ i dū rā c        citrā ṇ ī va kṣ aṇ a-katipayaṁ tatra mitrā ṇ i tasthuḥ ||34|| [mandā krā ntā ]   At that time a throne and an attractive umbrella appeared. Two cā maras began fanning him. He wore shining cloth. Seeing him, his friends with unblinking eyes remained motionless like pictures for a few moments.     [52] tataś ca kṛ payā snapita-nayanā ravindena govindena kṛ tam ā nandanam anu phullatayā pū rvataḥ puruṣ u mahendrā di-deva-guruṣ u chatrā dikaṁ taruṣ u sandhā ya, nija-hita-nibandhā ya tat-pada-dvandvam eva vandaṁ vandam amanda-bā ṣ pa-nisyandaṁ nijā m avajñ ā spadatā ṁ vijñ ā pya tam anujñ ā pya dū raṁ vindamā neṣ u labdha-vigata-nindamā neṣ u vṛ ndā rakeṣ u, sakhi-sandohaḥ ś andoham anuvindan mandaṁ mandam ā sasā da |   Blissful from being bathed in the glance of lotus-eyed Govinda, the devatā s became even more blissful than before. Placing their gifts such as the umbrella on the trees, they repeatedly offered respects to his feet for their own benefit. With tears in their eyes, admitting their offense, the devatā s who had been scolded and forgiven, took permission and departed. Kṛ ṣ ṇ a’s friends, full of joy, gradually approached him.    ā sā dya ca—          adrā kṣ ī d amahī d avocad alagī d ā jighrad apy acyutaṁ        chatrā dyaṁ ca cacā ya mitrapaṭ alī papraccha bhū yaś ca tam |        so’pi vyā jam ihā cacā ra bahudhā sā na pratī yā ya taṁ        kintu prī tibharaṁ mithaḥ pravalayaṁ hā sas tad ā vardhata ||35|| [ś ā rdū la]   Coming forward, they saw him, worshipped him, spoke to him, embraced him and smelled him. Seeing the umbrella and other items they inquired repeatedly. He hid the incident from them and thus they were not aware of it. At very moment laughter, indicating their joy, increased.        tataś ca—        iha sthitaiḥ pṛ thag aparais tu bhū ṣ aṇ air                    vibhuḥ parasparam api tā m abhū ṣ ayat |        amī tadā sa-kanaka-daṇ ḍ a-cā maraiḥ                    paricchedaiḥ svayam api taṁ siṣ evire ||36|| [rucirā ]   He decorated them with the ornaments given by the devatā s and they served him with the gold handled cā mara and other gifts.   [53] tasminn atha rā jany ati sakhi-vṛ nde—          dṛ ṣ ṭ vā devatatir vidū rataratas taṁ sevyamā naṁ suhṛ d-        vargais tad-guṇ a-rū pa-ś ī la-tulitaiḥ sva-pratta-tat-tac-chriyā |        tā n svajñ ā na-vilā sa-sañ cita-phalaṁ mene tathā tā m api        sva-premā rjita-karma-sampadam amaṁ stā nyan na mā nyaṁ tataḥ ||37 [ś ā rdū la]   Kṛ ṣ ṇ a and his friends appeared like kings. Seeing Kṛ ṣ ṇ a served by boys with similar qualities, form and nature, the devatā s considered that the boys had gained powers given by Kṛ ṣ ṇ a as a result of their accumulated knowledge. They concluded that those powers bestowed by him were simply various results gained by their prema. Nothing else could give those results.     [54] tad evam ā rabdhe’pi gamane stabdhe sati satī pati-prabhṛ tayas tasminn abhiṣ eka-prabhavaṁ prabhā vā ntaraṁ paś yantaḥ parasparaṁ sā dbhū tam idam udbhā vayā mā suḥ,   In this way, when the devatā s had begun to depart, their departure was interrupted whne they became stunned. When Ś iva and others saw Kṛ ṣ ṇ a’s powers, they became completely astonished.   yathā —        kṛ ṣ ṇ ā rcā raci daivataiḥ sukham ayur lokā ś ca gā vas tathā        pṛ thvī ṁ dugdha-bhṛ tā ṁ vyadhur bahu-vidhā n nadyo rasā n susruvuḥ |        vṛ kṣ ā madhv adhur uddadhuś ca girayo ratnā ni nirvairatā ṁ        jī vā ḥ prā pur aho mahaty apacitiḥ puṣ yaty akartṝ n api ||38|| [ś ā rdū lavikrī ḍ ita]   When the devatā s worshipped Kṛ ṣ ṇ a, all people became happy, the cows showered the earth with milk, the rivers flowed with various flavors, the trees flowed with honey, the mountains held jewels on their peaks, and inimical animals became friends. When a great person is worshipped even persons who do not worship become happy.   kiṁ ca—        indraḥ krū ra-caritram ā caritavā n yat tena cintā game        cittaṁ kampam iyarti ced giri kathaṁ cittena tad vyajyatā m |        kṛ ṣ ṇ as tatra ca yā ṁ kṛ pā ṁ bata tayā cittaṁ dravī -bhū tatā m        ā yā ti svayam eva ced giri kathaṁ cittena sā vyajyatā m? ||39|| [ś ā rdū la]   If the heart simply trembles on thinking of Indra’s cruel actions, how can the heart describe that nature in words? If the heart simply melts on thinking of the mercy shown by Kṛ ṣ ṇ a, how can the heart reveal that mercy in words?   [55] atha caramā calaṁ cucumbiṣ ati bhā nu-bimbe vilambaḥ saṁ vṛ tta ity avilambam eva go-nikuramba-saṁ valanayā sakhibhiḥ samaṁ vrajaṁ vrajan vraja-rā ja-janmā san-mā nayadbhir nirjara-vrajair upary atula-puṣ pa-varṣ air upacarya vrajadbhir anuvavraje,   When the sun embraced Sunset Mountain, Kṛ ṣ ṇ a realized it was getting late. Quickly he gathered the cows and returned to Vraja with his friends. Sprinkled with unequaled flowers by the devatā s who respected him, he went with the others who were walking.   yathā —          divyā tapatra-sita-cā mara-ś asta-hastaiḥ                    saṁ sevyamā na-savidhaḥ sakhibhiḥ pragī taḥ |        puṣ pa-vrajena vividhair vibudhaiś ca siktaḥ                    ś rī -pṛ kta-kā ntir ajitaḥ sadanaṁ sasā da ||40|| [vasantatilakā ]   Serving Kṛ ṣ ṇ a by holding umbrella and cā mara, his friends sang while devatā s showered flowers. With beauty endowed with glory, he entered his house.          niś amitam akaron niś ā mitaṁ ca                    dyujani-vibhū ṣ aṇ a-bhū ṣ aṇ ā ṅ gam etam |        vraja-nṛ pati-mukha-vrajaḥ samantā d                    ajani ca sā ttvika-rā jirā ji-mū rtiḥ ||41|| [puṣ pitā grā ]   Hearing about and seeing his limbs adorned with divine ornaments, everyone became full of sā ttvika-bhā vas.   [56] yat tu niś amya ramyacetā rā maḥ sā nukroś aṁ kroś amā tram upavrajya nijā varajavijayaṁ paś yan sukha-vaś yamanā s tam ā liṅ gya mū rdhā nam ā ś iṅ ghya kṣ aṇ a-katipayam upaviś ya, vacana-cā turī bhis tat-prasaṅ gaṁ saṅ gatavā n | tataś ca nijā nujena pū rvam eva svakṛ te nirdiś ya rakṣ itair divyeṣ v api divyatā -lakṣ itair analpair ā kalpaiḥ so’yam agrajaḥ sva-kareṇ a virā jayā mā sa | tataś ca svā nujaṁ guru-janā nā m agratas tā dṛ ś atayā prayā tuṁ saṅ kocam arocayan so’yam agrajaḥ ś anaiḥ sanair anaiṣ ī t |   Hearing the news, Balarā ma with joyful heart came some distance and, seeing his younger brother, embraced him in happiness and smelled his head. Sitting with him for some time, he spoke with him. Taking permission from Kṛ ṣ ṇ a, Balarā ma took off all the divine ornaments brought from the heavens. Not wanting the elders to see him in that opulent condition, he then brought Kṛ ṣ ṇ a to Vraja.   [57] atha tasmin dine tu go-sandoha-doha-nibandhanaṁ tad-anubandhi-janā n sandhā ya svayaṁ tu tat-tad-udantā nusandhā nā ya dhenu-sannidhā na eva sā nandaṁ nanda-rā jaḥ sannidhā ya, vandamā naṁ sa-rā ma-sakhi-vṛ ndaṁ govindaṁ purastā d vidhā ya samam eva bandhubhiḥ samam ā sanam ā sajjann ā sā mā sa |   Letting the milkmen milk the cows, Nanda on that day, put Kṛ ṣ ṇ a in front with his friends and Balarā ma, and sat there blissfully with his friends in order to understand about the incident.     [58] tatra cā nantaram ā caritā gatibhiḥ samyag urī kṛ ta-ś rī -rā mā nujā numatibhiḥ sū nṛ ta-vā dibhiḥ ś rī dā mā dibhiḥ sa-samā jā ya vraja-rā jā ya divyac-chatrā dy-arcā matrā diṣ u samarpiteṣ u santarpiteṣ u ca sarveṣ u tad apracchannam eva sa papraccha—kathyatā ṁ tathyaṁ kim idaṁ vṛ ttaṁ vṛ ttam? iti |   When Ś rī dā ma and other truthful friends arrived, they took permission from Kṛ ṣ ṇ a and began worshiping Nanda and the assembly with the umbrella and cā mara, satisfying them all. Then clearly Nanda said “Please tell us what happened. ”    [59] ś rī dā mā prā ha—vayam api go-saṅ kalanā ya kalita-bhū ri-dū ratayā ciraṁ viramya sthitā na samyag avagamyaṁ tad ā carā ma, kintu sā magrī yam eva nija-samyag-rī tim ā vedayati iti |   Ś rī dā ma said “To gather the cows we went far away for a long time. Thus we were not able to see anything directly. But all these things naturally announce that they are divine. ”   [60] tato namratā ṁ vindati ś rī -govinde parasparam avadhā ya sā dhu, ś rī dā man, sā dhv idam uktam ity abhidhā ya sarva evā narvā cī na-gopā ś citra-pratikṛ taya iva dvitra-kṣ aṇ aṁ nirnimeṣ atā m avā puḥ |   Kṛ ṣ ṇ a was acting shy, but all understood and said “That is correct Ś rī dā ma. That is the truth. ” All the elder cowherds then became motionless like pictures for a moment with unblinking eyes.   [61] madhumaṅ galas tū ccaiḥ sahā sam ā ha sma—ś rī man vrajarā ja! ś rū yatā m—          gaur ekā giram ā tanod atha pumā n anyaḥ sahasrekṣ aṇ o’        naṁ sī t ko'pi karī sitaḥ svar-udakā ny ā hṛ tya ś aś vad dadau |        kaucit pañ ca-caturmukhā ṅ ga-valitau stotra-prathā ṁ cakratus        te cā nye ca mahā mah ena siṣ icur gopeś a putraṁ tava ||42|| [ś ā rdū lavikrī ḍ ita]   Then Madhumaṅ gala said in a loud voice “O Nanda! Please listen. First a cow began speaking. Then someone with a thousand eyes offered respects. A white elephant took water from heaven and sprinkled it. Someone with four heads and five heads began reciting praises. Many people bathed your son with great festivity. ”     [62] atha svayaṁ cā tra sarvataś citraṁ mā ṅ galikaṁ karma nirmā tuṁ yuktam iti vicā rya citrā yamā ne kṛ ṣ ṇ a-prā ṇ e sasamā je vrajarā je viṣ ṇ u-pada-cariṣ ṇ u-vā ṇ ī yam ā virbabhū va—          yathā bhyaṣ iñ cā ma vayaṁ vrajeś itaḥ                    saṁ sajya govindatayā sutaṁ tava |        samaṁ samastaiḥ kṛ ta-maṅ galaṁ tathā                    taṁ yauvarā jyena javā d virā jaya ||43|| [upajā ti 12]   Nanda and the citizens thought they should perform some auspicious acts, but remained immobile. A voice then spoke from the sky. “O Nanda! Just as we gathered and installed your son as Govinda, you should gather together, ornament your son, and install him as the prince. ”
