Examination Card №44

 I. Reading
The text tells about the person's impressions of New York, one of the busiest and most amazing cities in the world. Their visit lasted for three days and they were really impressed by the shiny yellow lights in the streets, by apartments which looked as if they were from the last century.

Chinatown and Italian district were exciting places to visit. But the greatest impression of this trip was that it seemed the whole world could come all together in one place. There were people of different cultures and religions, tourists from all around the world and everyone was OK with it, living and enjoying their life like friends. The most interesting sights for them to visit were Manhattan, the Fifth Avenue, the Statue of Liberty, ice-skating park and the amazing Rockefeller Centre.

II. Writing
Dear Miss Alison,
Please accept my apologies for being not able to prepare a school assembly hall for a party on Saturday. Unfortunately, my granny is ill and I have to help her about the house. I'll keep my promise in future. I'll draw a wall newspaper and bring it to school on Monday.
Yours,
Borys

School rules are intended to ensure the safety and welfare of pupils and the smooth functioning of the school community. All schools publish their own rules and children are expected to abide by them.

As for our school we have a set of rules which are compulsory for pupils. First of all, good manners, a sense of responsibility and wearing a tidy school uniform are expected of children at all times. The students must attend school on a regular basis and be in class on time. During the lessons children are expected to show a positive attitude and involvement in all class activities, listening carefully to the teacher's instructions and talking quietly when the teacher allows. During the breaks pupils are expected to play safe games in designated supervised areas.

Children should treat school property and the property of others with care and respect and keep the school building clean and tidy. Mobile phones are discouraged as the school is not responsible for their security. They shouldn't be used during the lessons. It is forbidden to eat or drink in the hallways. Most of the pupils find this rule unfair, because all of us take a packed lunch to school and at times it is easier to eat a sandwich or drink a packet of juice in the classroom or in the corridor than in the canteen. When you have PE lessons you are expected to behave safely in order not to cause any damages to you and to the others. When you come to a school library you should be seated and work quietly. No food is allowed in the library.

Pupils must be aware of the clear boundaries between acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. Violent, disruptive, bullying, threatening or dishonest behaviour is not permitted. The pupil who breaks the school rules or shows disrespect to other pupils and to teachers, gets a note from his class teacher in his/her daybook and is expected to inform his/her parents about it. Sometimes parents are called in to have a talk with teachers or the headmaster.
