GERUND OR INFINITIVE?

We can use the gerund :

подлежащее: Smoking is dangerous

дополнение: I like reading

после предлогов: He’s good at drawing. What about cooking dinner? After leaving school he looked for a job.

после глаголов: I hate getting up early. Imagine living in New York!

We can use the infinitive (with or without to) :

после модальных глаголов: can, should, must, may or could,

*исключение ought to, have to, need to, be able to: He must study. I have lo leave now.

после прилагательных: I’m glad to see you

после глаголов: I managed to arrive in time. He decided to study Economics.
