" Lex come here" Nash called.

I opened his room door and stared at him lifting weights. I guess he wasn't sleeping like I thought Chase would kill me for even guessing that he was asleep when he wasn't.

" Can you pass me my water bottle? " he asked.

I stared at him annoyed " Get it yourself".

" Please, I'm tired" he whined.

I kicked it to him and he waited for it to stop rolling.

" I am really proud of you and Chase" he said after taking a couple gulps and swishing it around his mouth.

" Why? " I asked curiously.

I thought a part of him would say he knew and that Jessica never told him and he was being coy and sarcastic.

" You two have reduced your bickering lately. The house has been much quite lately" he said " Doesn't feel like I'm living with children anymore".

I felt a slight relief and realized that Chase was right and we had to be careful.

" Yes we have kept it minimal lately" I agreed.

I suddenly had a good idea. I should have thought of this before.

" Hey Nash can I have Jessica's number? " I asked.

" Really? " he asked surprised.

I nodded " We are starting to bond".

" It's in my phone" he said proud.

I picked up his phone from his bed and saved her number in my phone. I walked to my room closing the door and dialed her number.

" Hello" she answered.

" Hey it's Lexi" I said.

" What do you want? " she sighed " I told him I'd leave you alone".

" I know I just wanted to know what he said to make you stop" I said.

" He said he'd kill me if I told you" she said " Besides I don't want you to know".

" Please I'll keep it" I begged.

I didn't care enough about Jessica to take the effort of blackmailing her.

" Do you remember where I live? " she asked.

" Yes" I breathed.

" Come in five minutes" she said.

I hanged up and grabbed my jacket and climbed down the stairs, skipping entire steps.

" Lex where you going? " Chase asked.

" April's" I lied.

I grabbed Nash's keys and headed out the door before he could stop me.

I drove to her house. I had only been to Jessica's house on her birthday. Nash always made me come and I only came because he was so focused on her that I could have a couple hours to enjoy myself.

I got off the car and walked across the lawn it was a clean kept lawn, with rose bushes on either side of the door. I marched to the door and knocked.

The door opened after a couple seconds and I stared at Jessica whose hair was in a messy bun with strands spread across her face. She moved aside allowing me to enter.

She walked away silently to the living room and sat on the couch lifting up her legs and turning off the t. v. The house was silent so I was assuming we were the only ones home.

" So.. " I started awkwardly.

" Don't beat around the bush" she rolled her eyes " You want to know what Chase has over me".

I nodded.

" You can't use this against me" she warned.

" I won't" I promised.

She sighed running her hand through her blonde hair " It was two summers ago and we went to this guys party. Chase, Nash and I it was the craziest party I've been to in my life. There were hundreds of people and an unlimited supply of alcohol and not to mention drugs"

" Seems safe" I said sarcastically.

She glared at me and I shut my mouth.

" Anyways I woke up the next morning and saw Chase beside me and I... " her eyes teared up " I just drank so much last night I wouldn't remember my name and I would never hurt Nash I love him so much".

I felt angry but not at Jessica but at Chase he didn't trust me enough to tell me this story where as Jessica who had everything to lose had confided in me.

I rubbed her shoulder " Was Chase wasted too? ".

She nodded " He drank so much that night and I can't believe he wanted to blackmail me we both agreed we wanted to forget that night".

" He was probably bluffing" I said.

If he told Nash he would hate him too and I doubt Chase wanted that.

She shook her head " He said he'd risk anything for you".

" I should go" I stood up.

She gripped my arm " Chase can't know I told you he'll be furious".

I hesitated " I'll tell him not to bother you".

" Thank you Lexi for understanding" she said.

And that was the thing I didn't like it but I understood and I didn't want my brother to get hurt which was what would happen if he ever found out.

I drove home my thoughts all over the place. I couldn't believe that Chase kept this from me I felt my fist tighten on the wheel.

I opened the door and stomped to my room. I heard footsteps behind me but I ignored it slamming my door.

I sat on my bed and heard the door open I stared into his grey eyes.

" Go away Chase" I said.

" Did you have a fight with April? You seem upset" he asked.

" I just want to be alone" I said looking away.

He sat beside me his leg brushing mine " Tell me what's wrong".

" You're holding back the truth" I said.

" I always tell you everything" he said surprised.

" Really then what was the dirt you had over Jessica" I demanded.

His jaw clenched slightly " I was going to tell her teacher she never did her homework herself and was paying people to do it for her" he said.

I stared at him his face remained the same I couldn't believe he was lying to me and the worse thing was that if Jessica never told me I'd never be able to tell he was that convincing.

I shook my head in disgust " Get out of my room and don't come back in ever".

" Lexi.. " he touched my thigh.

" Out or I'll scream".

He walked out but not before throwing me a dissappointed look. I turned away keeping things from me was one thing but blatantly lying was another.

I went to bed dreading tomorrow and most of all hating Chase.

I woke up, the house was empty which meant that both boys had already went to practice.

I felt a strong sense of relief that Chase left.

" Hey Lexi" my mum rushed pouring coffee into a mug.

" Late again? " I smiled.

" Yes your father broke his alarm so he used mine" she rolled her eyes.

She kissed my forehead and ran out, her heels clacking on the wooden floor.

I chewed on a muffin and walked out the door to start the walk to school.

Chase parked his car infront of me and it reminded partly on the lawn.

I sighed in annoyance.

" I came to drive you to school" he rolled down the passenger window.

I continued walking ignoring him.

He stopped the engine and jogged to me pulling his sunglasses on his head pushing his dirty blond hair away from his forehead.

" Lex tell me what's wrong" he whispered placing both hands on my shoulder.

I attempted to shrug off his grip but it laid firm and solid on my shoulder.

" Please Lex" he continued " Whatever it is I'll make it right just give me the chance"

" Figure it out yourself" I said breaking out of his grasp.

He gripped my waist and pulled me to his chest.

" I'll just have to kidnap you then" he whispered his lips brushing my ear.

He flipped me over his shoulder and carried me to his car. I smacked his back repeatedly.

" Chase I swear to god" I threatened.

He had the guts to rub my ass and I seethed he one handedly opened the door and placed me in the front seat. He buckled the seat belt and leaned down.

He brushed my hair from my face " This will be fun I promise"

I sighed in frustration and folded my arms across my chest.

He walked to the drivers seat and I removed my seat belt ready to get out. I leaned forward but something constricted my stomach. I stared at his arm holding me back.

" If you thought I was going to take my time walking around you were wrong" he smirked " Smart Chase".

" This is a crime" I muttured " You could go to jail".

" No I can't" he said cheerfully.

He started the car and drove I sighed my head resting on the window I stared out at the passing neighborhood.

" Where are you taking me? " I asked.

He remained silent. I had passed the point of frustration.

" That's it I'm calling Nash" I dug my hand through my pocket and pulled out my phone.

He snatched it out of my palm.

" Victim 101 don't tell your kidnapper you have a phone" he smirked.

We drove for what felt like hours until he stopped I stared at the beach it wasn't the one in our neighborhood Salt Sea Beach this one was called Wasaga Beach and judging from the drive we were a long way from home.

He opened my door " Come on".

I had barely heard him stand and walk over. I stepped out and smelt the water.

He held my hand and interwined our fingers.

I kicked off my flip flops and dug my feet in the sand. Damn him he knew how relaxed I got on the beach. We walked on the edge of the water, the waves crashing our feet and the wind blowing our hair.

" What's wrong Lexi? " he asked.

I took a deep breath " I know what you had on Jessica".

His jaw clenched ever so slightly " Yeah and what was that".

" The party, you and Jessica should I elaborate? " I asked snidely.

" She had one job" he muttered running his hand through his windswept hair.

" Oh so this is her fault" I snapped.

" Let me explain".

He stopped walking and spun me around.

" I was so wasted Lex but nothing happened between us. I swear" he traced my knuckle with his thumb.

" You're lying" I pulled my hands away.

" Look I'd been with a dozen girls that night I was tired and needed a place to crash, so I crashed on Jessica's bed how was I supposed to know she was naked. She woke up the next morning all panicked that we slept together I was half asleep so I said yes so she could shut up cause my head hurt, but I swear to you Lexi I would never screw Nash's girl he's my best friend" he said.

I stared at his face he seemed sincere, but he also seemed sincere last night when he lied to me.

" I don't trust you" I whispered.

" Lexi it's the truth" he said.

I looked away staring at the water. He brushed my hair away from my face.

" It's Jessica even if she wasn't with Nash she is more annoying than you" he muttered.

" And you're with me, maybe annoying is your type" I retorted.

" No girl makes me feel this way but you" he said.

I felt a warmth spread through me before I crushed it down " You lied to me last night".

" I thought you'd be angry that I messed with her like that I mean she seemed very regretful to me" he said " I don't like when you're angry with me".

" Don't lie to me ever again" I said firmly.

He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer. I felt his lips meet mine and I clutched his hair. He laid me gently on the sand and pulled my hair back tilting my neck and began to trail wet kisses.

" I missed you" he murmured.

" Me too" I said.

He pulled back and pulled me onto his chest.

" We should get away more often" he said " I like this".

I rested my head on his chest hearing his heart beat. He stroked my hair and I felt a sudden peace I could fall asleep in his arms.

" Tomorrow is the dance" he said.

" Yeah" I said.

Tomorrow was the Sadie Hawkins dance which meant that every girl at Oak High was working up the courage to ask her crush out. It was all that girls had been talking about the last couple of days.

" Do you know who you'll ask? " he asked.

" No".

I was actually thinking of not going I mean if it wasn't with Chase I didn't want to bother.

" I'd love to dance with you" he said.

" Me too" I said.

" I want to go with you".

" Me too" I repeated.

We sat in silence.

" So.. " he started.

I stared at his grey eyes waiting for him continue.

" Damn it Lex I'm dropping hints so you can ask me" he said.

" But Nash will be there" I said confused.

" I know what to say to Nash" he whispered " Just ask me".

" Chase Matthews" I said " Will you do the honors of escorting me to the dance".

" Like I told the other hundred or so girls who've asked me this week. I have to consider" he smirked.

" Okay I guess I'll have to find a replacement" I said.

He kissed me softly " I would be honored".

I smiled against his lips.

He flipped me around so that he remained on top he pressed himself to me and our legs interwined. I felt his hand slip under my shirt and his finger slip under my bra.

" Chase" I managed to gasp " Public".

" I don't care" he murmured.

He kissed me passionately his hands touching my body. It got more heated and I felt my heart race as his fingers unbuttoned my shorts. I swallowed as his finger slipped in my underwear his finger stroked my skin. His lips meet mine suppressing my moan.

" We can't do this here" he said huskily.

" Where? " I asked.

" Lexi am I moving too fast? " he asked.

" No" I shook my head.

" I have to slow down" he said more to himself " This is your first relationship".

" So" I raised my chin defiantly.

" C'mon" he sat up " I'll buy you ice cream".

I glared at him my blood boiling.

" You can shove your ice cream" I said.

" Lexi don't throw a tantrum" he sighed.

" Why are you even with me Chase? " I asked " You treat me like a kid, ice cream, tantrums, kissing limits, monitoring my every move, as if I'll fall if you blink".

He looked away at the setting sun. The sun left a golden hue on his face.

" Is it really that bad that I care about you? " he whispered.

I softened a bit, my frown fading like the sun.

" That I try my best to show you that you are different from every other girl I've been with that I watch over you, because you are fragile and I don't want you to break. That I'm over protective, because I can't stand to see you with another guy. That I withhold things so that you don't think less of me. That everything I've ever done was to prove myself to you".

" Chase I'm sorry" I said touching his hand.

He shrugged me off " I'm tired let's go home".

I grabbed his hand and stared into his eyes.

" I care about you so much" I touched his cheek " I forget that you're not the same infuriating Chase I've known my entire life I just don't want you to see me as Nash's little sister".

He stood up and scooped me into his arms.

" I don't" he said.

He lowered my underwear and kissed my skin. I gasped and stared at him but he'd already buttoned my shorts.

" I only see Lexi Woods" he smiled.

" So where were you yesterday? " April asked.

" I was sick" I lied.

I did feel sick lying to her I wanted to tell her so badly but Chase wanted no one to know.

" Do you think Chase has a date for the dance? " she asked suddenly.

I choked on my sandwich " What? "

" A lot of girls asked him" she said.

" April" I said " Nash doesn't want me to go with any guy so he asked Chase to go with me".

I felt my stomach churn with the lie I had been thinking about it all last night.

" Seriously? " she leaned forward " Every girl will be extremely jealous you're so lucky".

I muttured something unintelligible and continued eating.

" Colin is back" she said.

" What? " my head snapped up.

" He has a study break" she said " So he drove down".

" Did he say anything about me? " I asked.

" Told me to tell you hi" she said " He's coming to the dance some senior asked him at the mall yesterday and he said yes".

" Great" I muttured.

Chase would be completely angry that Colin was back.

" Come get ready at my house" April said.

" Yeah sure" I said.

I went home and packed my dress in my bag and grabbed my makeup. A knock sounded on my door.

" Come in" I said.

" Hey".

Nash strolled in and sat on my bed.

" Chase told me he's taking you to the dance" he said.

" Yeah" I said unsure what to say I wasn't sure what Chase told him.

" Don't be mad Lex he's protecting you better him than those sleezy guys who will grope you" he said.

So that was Chase's story it was quite similar to mine and Chase had been doing a fine job groping me yesterday.

" I don't know why you try to rule my life" I snapped.

If Chase and I weren't together I would have been pissed.

He stood up and wrapped his strong arms around me in a bear hug.

" Let go, freak" I hit his back.

He ruffled my hair and I smacked his hand away.

" Get out" I threw my pillow at him.

He caught it and threw it back at my face he walked out laughing like a hyena.

My door opened and I threw the pillow at Chase's surprised face.

" Thought you were Nash" I said.

" Can I stay while you change? " he asked grinning.

" I'm going to April's house" I said shimmying out of my jeans and pulling my shirt over my head I remained in my bra and underwear.

Chase swallowed his eyes glued on my body.

I turned around and pulled out my sweatpants and tank top. I felt his body press against mine and I dropped my clothes.

" I can't let you leave" he kissed my shoulder.

I smiled " You said you'd just watch".

" I didn't know you'd let me" he admitted.

" Chase I have to go" I said.

I turned around and kissed him slowly pulling him closer.

" Fine" he pouted.

I pecked him and turned back to my closet. He left and I smiled to myself Chase was everything I've always wanted I wish I knew he was this amazing before. I wouldn't have hated him for this long.

I pulled on my sweatpants and tank top and grabbed my bag. I could hear their video games.

" Bye Nash" I said " Bye Chasey".

" Did she just call you Chasey? " I heard Nash ask before I walked out.

I sat on the step until April arrived.

" Who did you ask April? " I asked the minute I got in her car.

" Remember my Biology partner with the girlfriend? " she asked.

" Yeah".

" He broke up with her but we are going as friends" she shrugged.

" That's amazing" I squealed.

" No we are going as friends" she said.

I shook my head of course they weren't.

We walked into her house and climbed upstairs to her room.

" So what are you wearing? " she asked.

" Bag" I said.

I went to her washroom and brought her curler and started curling my hair.

" This is gorgeous" she gushed.

I stared at my tight peach dress.

" Show me yours" I said.

I stared at her light blue dress " It'll bring out your eyes. It's beautiful".

It was the first time we had went shopping alone. Since April went with her mum.

We finished up our hair and make up.

" I left my shoes downstairs" April said.

She left the room and I stripped out of my clothes and grabbed my dress. I pulled it on under my legs and adjusted the top. It showed a lot of cleavage and hugged my body perfectly.

I heard footsteps and turned around.

" Zip me up April" I pulled my hair front.

She began zipping me.

" I feel like I'm showing way too much cleavage" I said " Tell me if it's too much".

I turned around and stared at Colin's amused face. He stared at my chest with a thoughtful expression.

" I think it's a substantial amount of cleavage" he said.

I wrapped my arms around him and smiled " Hey Colin".

" Hi" he said.

I pulled back " Heard you're going to the dance".

" Yeah" he stepped forward " But I'd rather go with you".

" Colin I'm seeing someone" I murmured softly.

" Oh" he stepped back confused " I never knew April never told me".

" It's low key" I said " I'm sorry".

" It's not surprising that you're already taken" he sighed.

I looked away guilty I was with the boy who separated us.

He walked to the door and turned back just before leaving.

" Save me a dance tonight" he said.

I nodded.

" Hey Colin" April bumped into him " Leave Colin".

I pulled on my white pumps.

I went downstairs and sat on the couch and pulled out my phone and called Chase.

" Hey babe" he answered.

I felt my heart warm when he called me babe.

" Where are you? " I asked.

" Driving to my love" he said.

" Feeling mushy tonight" I teased.

" It's our first date" he said " Aren't you excited? I know I am".

" What about yesterday? " I asked.

" Yesterday was a kidnapping gone right" he said cheekily.

I laughed " Okay I'll see you".

I was still smiling when he rang the door bell.

He stared at me his eyes drinking me in.

" You look beautiful" he smiled softly.

I smiled with widely " Thank you".

" April we are leaving" I yelled.

She was going to meet her date at school I see they tried to make it as casual as they could.

" Okay" she called.

" You need a ride Lex? " Colin came out the kitchen.

" What the hell is he doing here? " Chase demanded.

He stepped forward his shirt brushing my arm.

" You have a lot of guts asking me what I'm doing in my house" Colin glared.

" Let's go Lex" Chase said.

" Why are you even with this guy? " he asked.

" Guys please stop" I begged.

" Because she likes me" Chase answered.

Colin scoffed " Right".

" Tell him Lexi" Chase nudged me.

" Yes I like him. Can we go? " I tugged his shirt.

He walked out and I followed him slightly annoyed.

" Our first date Chase" I shook my head.

" I'm sorry I just hate him so much" he grumbled.

We drove in silence.

" Hey I'm sorry okay? " he rubbed my thigh.

" Yeah" I said.

" You really do look beautiful" he whispered while helping me out the car.

The gym was decorated with blue and white ballons. The music was playing and everyone was dancing on the floor. The girls were throwing me envious looks.

" C'mon" he twirled me " Dance with me".

We danced and I felt an extreme happiness being able to be with him in public. I interwined our fingers and felt his body press against mine. A slow song played and he took me into his arms.

I rested my head on his shoulder, with my heels I could finally place it on his shoulder rather than his chest as I usually did.

" I love you Lexi" his lips brushed my ear.

I pulled back and stared at him.

" What? " I whispered.

I needed to hear him say it again I had to look at his eyes.

" I love you" he said firmly.

His grey eyes shone as he stared at me lovingly.

I traced my finger on his jaw wanting nothing more than to kiss him.

" I.. " I started.

Someone bumped into me and I felt something wet hit my back.

I stared up at Jessica.

" Sorry" she slurred.

" I'm sorry Lex she got drunk on the ride" Nash apologized " On the bright side its just water".

I sighed feeling my dress slick to my back.

" I should clean this up" I muttured.

I walked to the washroom and grabbed a bunch of toilet paper and blotted my back.

Damn Nash and Jessica.

" It just started and you already got a mess" April sighed walking in.

" It was Jessica" I said.

She grabbed toilet paper and helped me " Thanks April".

We stopped when it was semi dry. I walked out the door and April stayed to reapply her makeup.

" So he's the guy" Colin said.

He leaned against the locker and stared at me.

" Yes" I said.

" Why him? " he asked " I thought you hated him".

" I did but I don't anymore" I said.

" Do you love him? " he asked.

" Yes I love Chase" I said.

" What? " April whispered.

I turned around to see April's surprised face but more than surprise it conveyed betrayal.

" April I can explain" I rushed.

" You've been seeing him this whole time listening to me fawn over him" she said.

" No April I wanted to tell you" I explained.

" All this time" she shook her head " Just like you lied about Colin".

" Please I'm sorry" I pleaded " I'm so sorry".

" I will never trust you again" she stared at me in disgust.

" I hate you" she spat.

I felt a lump in my throat and felt the hot tears cascade down my cheek.

She stormed off and I slumped against a locker clutching my knees to my cheek.

Colin opened his mouth.

" Don't" I snapped.

" What can I do to make it better? " he asked.

" Get me Chase".

He nodded and left.

I dug my face in my lap and cried. Everything was ruined April would never forgive me I messed up so bad.

" Lexi" Chase touched my shoulder.

I stared at his face blurry behind my tears. I threw my arms on his neck and clutched him tight his arms wrapped around me.

" April knows and she hates me" I sobbed.

" Shh" he rubbed my back " She doesn't hate you".

" She does" I whimpered.

" I'll fix it" he said " I'll fix everything".

Even though I knew it was impossible I believed him.

" Shh you're waking her up, " Nash whispered.

" I'm the one walking backwards, " Chase snapped.

" Hold her while I open my car, " Nash said.

I opened my eyes slowly and looked up into Chase's eyes.

" What are you guys doing? " I muttured rubbing my eyes.

" Crap, " he said.

I stared in confusion at Nash who was unlocking his car and Chase who was holding me in his arms.

" Happy Birthday" they said in unison.

After everything that happened last night and April not answering my numerous calls and my never ending tear flow. I had completely forgotten it was my birthday.

" Guys it's super late, " I said.

Chase placed me down on my feet.

" Don't worry we are just going for cake, " Nash said.

" Great plan guys, " I muttured " Where do you think is open at this time? McDonald's drive through? "
