" He looks so gorgeous today, " April said, staring at Chase who was sitting on top of his lunch table, making hand gestures with a crowd sitting around him, staring at him with matching looks of rapture and pure admiration.

" Do you know he provoked your brother at Spencer's today? " I asked.

" Yeah, they've always hated each other. " she waved it off.

" It's ridiculous, " I said.

" Yeah, " she agreed barely paying attention to him.

" If Chase is so interesting why don't you go sit in front of him, like one of his stupid groupies, " I said annoyed.

" I'm sorry Lexi, " she said guiltily " I wish you knew the feeling of having a crush. "

I did on her brother. But I couldn't tell her that, I doubt our relationship was even serious he barely made a move on me yesterday. He could see me as a friend or worse as a sister. And he was leaving in six days.

" So I was thinking of ways Chase could notice me and I think I should change my hair" she said.

“Chase doesn’t care about hair color, ” I said.

He told me so himself.

I stared at her slightly surprised. Chase still wrote 2012 on his school notes. I doubt he would notice her hair cut.

" April he won't notice, " I said, “Trust me. ”

" I have a project after school, so I don't need a ride, " I said looking up at my brother.

" Okay I had practice anyways, " Nash said, ruffling my hair.

I was becoming a professional liar.

I turned around the sidewalk, until I spotted Colin's Mustang.

" Hey. " I smiled.

" Hey beautiful. " he started the engine.

My smile grew at the thought that he called me beautiful.

He drove and finally parked. I stared at the open space of the beach. He pulled out a blanket and we sat on the sand, there were a few people milling about soaking up the sun. I felt the sun warm on my face and sighed.

" This is nice, " I said.

" I figured you'd appreciate it, " he said.

" Let's swim, " I said suddenly.

" I don't have my trunks, " he said.

" Your shorts will suffice, " I said.

I took of my t-shirt and tossed it on the blanket.

Colin stared at me his eyes widening.

" C'mon I'm sure you've seen girls in their bras before. " I teased.

" You're starting to amaze me. " he grinned.

I left my shorts on and padded into the water followed by Colin. He picked me up placing me on his shoulder.

" Put me down. " I laughed, smacking his muscular back.

" Not until you admit that Oak High hasn't been the same since I graduated. " he taunted.

I was laughing too hard to muster up a response.

" Okay. " he shrugged " I guess you'll have to go under. "

He lowered me down into the water.

" Okay fine you are, " I said breathlessly.

He smiled brightly before lowering my feet down into the water.

" You are despicable, " I said smiling.

" C'mon lets dry off, my car is not getting wet today, " he said.

He rested down, closing his eyes. I walked the span of the beach and was going to go back again, when Colin appeared behind me.

" What are you looking for? " Colin asked, his breath warming the back of my neck.

" Corals, " I said " I sort of collect them. "

" That's cool, " he said " How much do you have so far? "

" A lot, almost a chest full, " I said proudly.

" Impressive, " he said.

" Well it's not all me, Chase always gets me a handful on my birthday. He once skipped school and never slept an entire night, because he was scoring through the entire beach. Needless to say he slept through my party and complained about muscle pain for a straight week, " I said fondly.

It was the few moments where I loved Chase, when he went out of his way to do something nice for me like this morning, on my birthday, whenever I was sick or sad or upset.

" Well I suppose he has his moments then, " he said.

I nodded that he did. He bent down and stood up holding a blue coral.

" It matches your eyes, " he said.

" It's beautiful, " I whispered.

" Yes you are, " he said.

I stared up at him and suddenly his lips were on mine, they were soft against my lips. I pulled him closer, our wet chests touching. I ran my finger through his hair and placed my other one on his smooth chest, feeling his heart beat strong under my palm.

I pulled back dizzily. It was amazing, everything I thought a kiss from Colin would feel like, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

" I think we're dry enough to drive back home, " he whispered.

I nodded, not able to form words.

He parked around the corner from my house.

" Same time, tomorrow? " he asked.

" Yes. "

His lips brushed my lips again, before he pulled back and I walked the way to my door with a smile on my lips.

I spent the last couple of days, spending every free hour I had with Colin. After school, during lunch, sometimes in the middle of the night I would sneak out to be with him, we would talk and kiss a lot. He consumed my every waking thought.

I wrapped my legs around him, feeling his lips on my neck. I pulled back staring at him.

" Colin I'm tired of making out in the back of your car, " I said.

" I know, it's not exactly ideal, " he said breathlessly.

I sighed, it wasn't the point of it being ideal it was plain uncomfortable.

" Look my parents are going out of town tonight. How about I make you dinner just the two of us? " he smiled.

I traced his lips with my finger.

" What about April? " I asked.

" She has a sleepover with her friend, " he said.

" What friend? " I asked.

I didn't recall April mentioning any friend to me. But then again I hadn't seen much of her lately.

" Some girl that she has to work on a project with. " he shrugged.

" Okay, then, " I said.

He drove me home, kissing me slowly his hand slipping under my shirt and his fingers under my bra wire.

" We'll continue this tonight, " he promised, pulling back.

I hopped off and walked, until I reached my house. It was tedious the way I had to keep Colin a secret and resort to sneaking out and lying so much.

I went to my room, to plan an outfit for tonight. Ever since Colin and I got closer I had been thinking about sex. Things were getting heated and maybe tonight was his way of saying let’s do it.

I mean he mentioned how his parents were out. I bit my lip nervously I wasn’t sure I was ready and besides we hadn’t even been together long enough.

Chase barged in right in the middle of my internal debate.

" Hey, tonight’s game night, " Chase said excited.

Chase loved game night. It was basically when my dad cooked dinner and we played charades or monopoly. His family never paid much attention to him and weren't big on family time. So he was pretty into our game nights and bi-weekly barbecues.

" I can't tonight, " I said " April has a crisis. "

" What no I was going to kick your ass, " he whined.

" Maybe next time pal, " I said.

" C'mon Lexi, stay just for tonight. " he pouted.

Damn he looked so adorable and I couldn't say no, but Colin would be gone in two days.

" Sorry Chase. I promise next week I’m all yours, " I said.

" Fine. " he sighed " Girls are so needy, can't deal with their own crisis. "

" Be nice, " I scolded.

He turned around to leave.

" Wait Chase, I have a question, " I said.

He turned around, his hair brushing his forehead by the motion.

" Yeah? "

" On a scale from one to ten how much does it hurt a girl to lose her virginity? " I asked.

If there was anyone who was a sex expert it would most definitely be Chase Matthews.

" Where is this coming from? " he asked amused.

" Curiosity. " I shrugged.

He walked over to my bed and made himself comfortable and started stroking his chin. I waited patiently until I couldn't anymore.

" So are you going to answer me or not? " I asked annoyed.

" I don't know. " he shrugged.

" What do you mean I don't know? " I sighed.

" I mean I've never taken a girl's virginity before, " he said.

" Why not? " I asked, sitting beside I leaned forward.

" Uh I don't feel comfortable sharing the dirty details of my sex life with you" he said shifting in his spot.

" I'll be sure to keep my sex stories to myself when you graduate next year. " I smirked.

" Very funny, " he said drily.

" Continue, " I urged.

" I think a girls virginity should be given to a guy she loves, you have to be patient and understanding and shit, when you're taking a girls v card. Besides you can't go for seconds, " he said.

" Guys are so considerate, " I said sarcastically.

" We have our redeeming qualities. " he agreed not hearing the sarcasm lacing my voice.

" Okay I have to change, " I said.

" Please let me stay. " he smiled.

" Get out, pervert, " I grabbed his shirt and dragged him to the door.

I proceeded to get dressed and walked downstairs and slipped out the door, grateful that no one saw me I mean I was dressed up, it was clear to see I wasn’t going to solve April’s crisis.

Colin as usual was parked around the corner.

“Hey. ” he said.

He leaned forward to kiss me.

“You look beautiful tonight, ” he said staring at me appreciatively.

“Thank you, ” I replied.

He walked around to open my door and grabbed my hand and walked me to his house.

“Sit, ” he said.

I sat on the kitchen stool and watched him pull his apron over his head.

" You know I had no idea you could cook, " I said.

" You don’t know a lot of things about me. " he winked.

Most of the food was ready, since he started before he picked me up and the kitchen smelt great and I was so impressed.

" I find it very attractive if a guy cooks. " I flirted.

" Then you must find me pretty damn sexy. " he smirked.

" I don't think it applies to you, " I said.

" Take that back, " he murmured his lips against mine.

He started kissing me, fiercely, his hand lifting my dress and brushing my skin.

" Oh my god! " a girl cried.

I pushed him away and stared at a wide eyed April.

" April, " I said.

" How long has this been going on? " she asked glaring at both of us.

" April we should talk. " I hopped off my stool.

" You have to go after my friends too, " she snapped at Colin.

She turned on her heels and stormed up the stairs.

" Let me explain to her, " Colin offered.

I shook my head " I got this. "

I climbed upstairs and knocked on her door.

" April can I come in please? " I asked.

She never responded so I slowly opened her door.

She was on her bed, holding her worn out teddy bear that she had ever since she was two. I sat down in front of her feeling like the worse person for not telling her.

" April I wanted to tell you, I just didn't know how you would feel, " I started.

" Betrayed, lied to, how’s that for how I would feel, " she snapped.

I lowered my eyes ashamed. I had been so busy having the time of my life with Colin. I failed to see the lack of time I was spending with April and how finding it out this way would hurt her.

" I am a horrible friend, " I admitted.

" Yes you are, " she agreed.

" I really am sorry. Colin and I aren't serious he's leaving in a day. It's not like we were planning on going long distance or long term, " I explained, even though thinking of the thought of him leaving made me extremely upset.

She sighed " I don't care about you and Colin. In fact I would have been happy for you both. If you just told me the truth. "

" I'm sorry, " I repeated.

" You’re forgiven, " she said finally.

I hugged her " Thanks April. "

" Well I should go. " she stood up " You guys can have the place to yourself. "

" Thanks, you really are the best. " I smiled

" I should warn you Colin can be a pig sometimes, " she said.

" Noted. "

“You guys aren’t planning on doing anything right? ” she asked, peering closer at me.

I blushed “No I don’t think I’m ready. ”

She nodded “Good. ”

" You cleared things up with her? " Colin asked.

I nodded.

He rubbed my neck " Sorry about throwing you under the bus. "

" It's alright I should have told her from the start. "

" Don't beat yourself up about it, " he said.

We started eating and the food was amazing, the pasta and sauce were heavenly.

“This is amazing, ” I said.

“Chef Colin, ” he said, “Has a nice ring to it. ”

We finished and I went to watch the plates, he grabbed my hand.

“I’m not letting you watch the dishes, ” he said.

“You cooked, I clean, ” I said.

“No, c’mon lets go upstairs, ” he said, leading me up the stairs.

My palms were beginning to get sweaty we were walking to his room and I could see his door. I was wondering why he never dropped my hand and wiped my sweat off.

He opened his door and stopped just before opening it.

“Look I want to tell you that I don’t plan on anything happening tonight, ” he said.

“You don’t? ” I asked relieved.

He nodded " I mean Lexi, you are beautiful and smart and amazing and one day there will be a guy, who will love you more than he loves himself and I swear to you if I wasn't going back to college. I would want nothing more right now than to take you upstairs and sprawl you on my bed. But I respect you too much" he said, his blue eyes staring directly into mine. I could hear the sincerity ringing in his voice.

That was the sweetest thing anyone had ever said to me.

“I wish you weren’t leaving, ” I whispered.

“Me too. ”

" Look tomorrow night, there is a bonfire on the beach, it's my last night. Come with me? " he asked.

I hesitated " Chase and Nash will be there. "

" Who cares? " he shrugged " They don't control you. "

" You're right they don't, " I agreed.

Tomorrow night I wouldn’t care about what Nash and Chase would think. Tomorrow night would only be about Colin.

" Then let's give Chase Matthews an early death. " he smirked.

There was nothing that would please me more.

" So are you really going to face their wrath by going with my brother? " April asked.

" It's my life, " I said, smearing my cherry lip gloss on my lips.

" I don't listen to them, " I added.

" Look at you, " she said impressed " Colin made you a little badass. "

" Colin just opened my eyes to all the bullshit around me, " I said.

I stared at myself in the mirror my blonde hair was in a bun and my yellow dress stopped mid thigh and hugged my chest perfectly.

I stared at April who looked very pretty. I wish she would move on from Chase and find a better guy.

" Okay let's go, " she said.

" Why do you girls take so damn long? " Colin huffed.

He looked gorgeous in a black t-shirt and khaki shorts, sometimes I envied the fact that guys could dress within seconds and still manage to look good. I wrapped my arm around his bicep. He leaned down to kiss me, but I placed my hand on his chest.

" Save it for when Chase is around, ” I said.

He nodded “I like the way you think. ”

But he kissed me when I was talking to April.

I sighed wiping my lip gloss off his smiling lips.

" Gross, " April muttered making barfing sounds " I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. "

We walked down to the beach, since it was only a few feet away. They had a large fire going and kids from different high schools were milling around with red cups in their hands, there were logs of wood with kids sitting and making out on it.

" I'll get you a drink. " Colin rubbed my waist and took off in another direction.

“Girls looking beautiful, ” Chase said, staring at April.

He drew his eyes back to me and gazed at me slowly from my head to toe, I shifted on my foot uncomfortable under his scrutiny, which was a lot longer than April’s once over.

“Nice, ” he drawled.

“If you’ll excuse me, ” I said.

“Wait where are you going? ” he asked.

“April is thirsty, ” I hinted.

“Do you want anything? ” he asked.

“No I’m fine. ”

He walked away and I smiled at April before I headed out to find Colin, who was walking towards me with a cup in hand.

" It's spiked, " he added.

I shrugged " Even better. "

" You’re a little rebel, " he said approvingly.

He had a beer bottle for himself which he was gulping down. We sat on the log, our thighs touching and drank in silence.

" You look pretty in the moonlight, " Colin said.

" When did you turn poetic? " I asked amused.

" Since I finished this bottle of beer, " he slurred holding up the empty bottle.

I had been staring at the flames for so long I must have not noticed him getting drunk.

" Let’s sit on the beach, " I suggested.

I grabbed his hand and towed him to the sand.

We sat down and Colin grabbed my shoulder and started kissing me. He lowered me down into the sand. I tasted the beer on his tongue. He raised my dress up, lifting my leg onto his back so I was partially cradling him.

" I don't like doing this in public, " I murmured when his lips moved to my neck.

" Relax, nobody is looking, " he assured.

I felt my phone ring. I grasped around till I found it.

" Lexi, " Chase said, but it wasn't coming from my phone.

I turned my head and saw him standing a few feet away.

" Why the fuck are you on top of her? " he growled.

He walked to us in two large steps and gripped Colin's shirt pulling him off me. I never saw Chase so angry, his hands were in tight fists.

" Chase stop, " I hissed.

" Get your hands off me, " Colin snapped.

" Why were your hands on her? Did you get her drunk so you could feel her up? " Chase asked.

" I don't need to get her drunk to touch her, " Colin said " I've been doing it since I got here. "

" You're lying. " Chase smirked " Lexi has standards. "

" Ask her then, " he offered " See what she says. "

He turned to look at me, his face expectant.

" Colin is right we've been hanging out this week, " I agreed.

" What? " Chase asked his voice low, his grey eyes were beginning to darken.

Chase suddenly punched him in the gut. Colin groaned lowering himself to the ground.

" Stop, " I yelled.

I stepped forward towards him, but Chase stepped in front of me his chest blocking my view.

" I think you did enough tonight, " he said " You're going home. "

" No I'm not, " I said folding my arms on my chin.

" That wasn't a request. " he grabbed my arm and dragged me away.

I struggled against his grasp.

" Let me go, " I whimpered.

He ignored me and pulled me into the car, effectively locking it after him.

He started driving I looked out of my window, fighting the urge to strangle him.

" All this time, " he whispered " You were sneaking around with that dirt bag. "

" All those excuses. " he shook his head.

I remained silent. I wasn't going to add fuel to his fire.

" Did you go see him last night? " he asked.

" Yes. "

" Is that why you were asking me all those sex questions? Did you fuck him? " he asked " Answer me damn it. "

He slammed the steering wheel furiously.

" You're scaring me, " I whispered.

" If you don't answer me, I'll get a shitload more scary, " he warned.

" We never slept together, " I started " Colin didn't want to since he was leaving soon and all. "

" You wanted to, " he said his voice calm, but I could see his knuckles turning white from his grip on the wheel.

We arrived in front of my house and I sighed in relief. All I wanted to do now was go to sleep after this horrible night.

" I am so disappointed in you, " he said softly.

" I don't exist to please you, " I said " I do things for myself. "

I tried opening my door, but he never removed the child lock. I gave him a pointed look but he was too busy staring off into the distance.

" I can't believe you were going to give him your virginity and you know how much I hate him, " he said dazed.

" Let me out Chase, " I said.

" How can I risk that when I don't know who you'll open your legs for on the way to the door? " he sneered.

I felt a sharp pain in my chest at his words, but more than pain I felt anger.

" I'll tell you one thing. It sure as hell won't be you, " I hissed.

" You little... " he growled.

" Little what? I dare you to continue, " I taunted.

He couldn't call me anything. I would tell Nash and he would yell at him.

He pursed his lips.

" Good boy. " I smiled.

He unlocked my door " Get out of my sight. "

I stormed off, locking the door. He could go inhale the paint fumes of his house that his mom was currently renovating. I sighed when I remembered he had his own keys to our place.

One could hope I suppose.

I sat on my bed ready to watch a movie or anything to distract me from the fact that Colin was leaving or already left and I couldn’t see him to say Chase had been keeping a close eye on me would be an understatement. I had just got comfortable and pressed play when.

" Lexi, " Nash called.

" What? " I asked annoyed.

" Can you come to my room? " he yelled.

I sighed and stood up, my sock covered feet padding against the wooden floor until I reached his room which even though it was a few feet away always felt like miles I opened his room door and walked in.

I stared at Chase's muscular back, he was flipping through some of Nash's cds oblivious to the fact that I was behind him.

I turned around to walk out, when the door slammed in my face. Chase turned around, his hair flipping across his forehead. I grabbed the doorknob and attempted to turn it but it wouldn’t budge.

" Nash, " I said.

" You guys haven't said a word to each other this whole week and it's pissing me off, " Nash said.

" I understand, " I said " But can you let me out so we can talk about it. "

" Yeah man, you said you wanted your stupid cd, " Chase complained.

" Not until both of you work it out, " he said.

I heard his retreating footstep and walked over to his bed, collapsing on the soft, dark blue comforter.

I felt the bed lower with Chase's weight. We sat in silence when he suddenly broke it.

" He's right, " he said " We can't keep ignoring the problem. We have to address it. "

I stared at his striking grey eyes, waiting for him to continue. I wasn't going to make this easy for him.

" I over reacted last night. I shouldn't have spoken so rudely, " he apologized " I just don't want you to get hurt, so I take extra measures. "

" I’m sorry, Chase, ” I said, “But I hate you and nothing you say or do will change that simple fact. ”

He stared at me surprised, his eyebrows raised

" You’re acting like half of this isn’t your fault, ” he said.

“How is any of this my fault? ”

" So you never lied, snuck out, almost gave your virginity to a college boy and betrayed everyone in the process, " he said bitterly.

I shrugged " I suppose I never went about it the right way. But I did apologize to April and maybe my family deserves one, but since I'll be grounded for the rest of my life I'll pass. But in all of these events that occurred in nowhere do I see where it concerns you. "

His face dropped slowly. I felt a small amount of guilt at having hurt him. But it was so small that I never took it back.

" Then I suppose your family is going to get that apology sooner than you expected, " he stood up.

" What? " I whispered.

His turned his back to face me.

" Chase you can't, " I said.

He ignored me, continuing to flip through the cds.

" Please Chase, " I pleaded " They will never let me step out of this house and Nash will be way more controlling than he was. "

And especially, because I lied to my mom and said he was in high school. She was big on honesty and would look at it as a personal betrayal.

" I gave you a chance to accept my apology. " he turned around with a smirk plastered on his smug face " But you decided to be rude to me and hurt me, when I've been nothing but kind to you. "

I stood up and walked towards him, placing my hands on either side of his face.

" Chase I am sorry for having a life and not being locked in here like a prisoner, " I said sarcastically.

I couldn't hold back the sarcasm, it came like a first language to me. I bit my lip nervously. He was going to destroy me. His eyes darkened.

" Repeat it and this time lose the attitude or I swear to god Lexi I will ruin you, " he threatened softly stroking my cheek.

I swallowed " I'm sorry Chase for hurting you and hanging out with Colin, it was stupid and reckless and completely unlike me. I don't know what I was thinking or what came over me. I understand now that you were just trying to protect me. "

I never spilled out as much bullshit in my life as I did right then, just to satisfy his ego I had spluttered more lies then I had this entire week.

He nodded approvingly " That's much better and I'm glad you realized your folly. "

" So you won't tell them? " I asked.

" As long as you stay on my good side, " he promised.

He would hold this over me. He finally had enough leverage to make me do what he wanted. I would never be free. I wanted to cry in frustration, but he would only pity me for a second before plotting how to control me better next.

" Let’s hug it out, " he said wrapping his arms around me.

I wrapped my arms around his waist, grudgingly. I pulled back when I felt his hand grasp my ass.

" Asshole! " I snapped.

He smirked.

" Nash we're done, " Chase yelled.

" Are you sure? " he asked.

" Yes, " I said.

He opened the door slowly poking his head in. He stared at us for a minute before nodding approvingly and opening the door.

" I ordered pizza, " he said " But I was hungry so I finished the box there is only two left. "

I was famished. I pushed past Nash and headed for the kitchen. I stared at the last two pineapple pizzas. It suddenly disappeared before my vision.

I turned around to see Chase holding both of them in his hand.

I groaned I wasn’t going to get any.

He licked a slice and dangled it in my face.

" You can have this one. " he grinned like the Cheshire cat that he was.

" Shove it. "

" I was just kidding, " he said his smile dropping.

He held out the one he never licked out to me.
