AN EGG AND A HUG

I was making a Chinese meal for me and my husband. He loves Chinese food. I chopped some chicken and some green peppers. Then I crushed some garlic. Next, I grated some ginger. I threw them in my wok and fried them in sesame oil. After that, I added soy sauce and stirred. I boiled some rice, strained it and added it to a pan with a bit of oil. Then I went to the fridge for some spring onions and an egg to make egg fried rice. Disaster! There were no eggs. My neighbour keeps chickens and she always has fresh eggs. Sadly, we fell out about something silly last year. We argued and did not speak again. I decided to look in her garden and see if I could find an egg. She won’t miss one egg, I thought. I went into her garden but she was there, putting the hens into the henhouse. She saw me. I said, ‘Er, will you sell me an egg? ’ She smiled and said, ’No, I will not sell you an egg. I will give you an egg. Come here and I will give you a hug, too. I’ve missed you, dear friend. ’ ‘Me too’, I said. We hugged and we were friends again. We were both so happy.
