Dwarves

Dwarves are not related to Elves or Men. They are excellent metalworkers – they made the One Ring for Sauron. They live a very long time, but are not immortal. They are short, but very strong, and dangerous fighters.

Gimli

Gimli is a strong warrior. He is part of the Fellowship of the Ring, and helps Frodo in his quest to destroy the One Ring.

Magical Creatures

Ents are spirits that live in trees. They think and act slowly, but are very powerful.

Treebeard

Treebeard is the guardian of Fangorn Forest. He is the oldest Ent and the oldest creature in Middle-earth. He leads the other Ents to fight again Sauron in the Ward of the Ring.

Enemies of the Fellowship

Balrog of Khazad-dum

Balrogs are spirits of fire. They live in dark places. Most Balrogs died in the Great Battle. They are frightening and dangerous creatures.

Gollum

Gollum was a hobbit. He found the One Ring. After many years of keeping the One Ring, he changed from a hobbit to a selfish and dangerous creature. He wants to have the Ring back.

Orcs

Orcs are dangerous and powerful warriors. They live in Sauron’s lands. They are very good fighters. They don’t like the sun and live underground. They will eat men, horses, and each other.

Dark Riders

The Dark Riders were powerful kings of men. Sauron gave them magic rings, and the kings became evil. They are very strong at night, and very dangerous.

The One Ring

The One Ring is the strongest Ring of Power. It was made in secret by Sauron. The wearer of the ring becomes invisible. He also is immortal, and can control all the other magical rings. It must be destroyed before Sauron can be destroyed. It must be destroyed before Sauron can be destroyed.

These nine characters make a quest to destroy the One Ring.
