Characters

Hobbits

Hobbits are small creatures. They look like men, but they are not the same race. They are very short. The tallest Hobbit is still only about 4 feet (1.3 meters) tall.

Hobbits live in small round houses. They love to eat! They love to have fun, and enjoy parties, good food, and singing. Many of the Hobbits live in a place called “The Shire”.

Frodo Baggins

Frodo is “The Ring Bearer”. His cousin Bilbo Baggins gives him the ONE RING. He must go to the Crack of Doom to destroy the ring.

Merry Brandybuck

Merry is a friend of Frodo. He helps Frodo on his quest to destroy the Ring.

Pippin Took

Pippin is a friend of Frodo. He helps Frodo on his quest to destroy the Ring.

Samwise Gamgee

Sam is Frodo’s closest friend during the quest. Frodo could not make the quest without Sam.

Bilbo Baggins

Bilbo is Frodo’s cousin. Bilbo found the One Ring many years ago. He kept it for many years before he gave it to his cousin Frodo.

Men

Men are related to Hobbits and Elves, but they are not the same race. They are the youngest race.

Men Characters

Aragorn (Strider)

Aragorn is the heir to the Kingdom of Gondor. He is a Ranger, a warrior who fights to protect other men. He helps and protects Frodo on his quest.

Boromir

Boromir is a nobleman who fights to protect his people from the Dark Lord Sauron. He wants to use the One Ring to help his people, but doesn’t always think about the Ring’s potential for evil.
