Florence Nightingale was a famous nurse. She was born in Florence, Italy in 1820.

She came from a wealthy English family and her father educated her at home. Florence trained to be a nurse in 1851. In 1854, she travelled to Turkey to treat soldiers during the Crimean War. She helped to improve hospital conditions there. At the age of 40, she opened the Nightingale School of Nursing in London.

Florence Nightingale died in London in 1910. I admire her because she was a very brave woman who saved a lot of lives and improved hospital care.

One sunny day last spring, I went for a hike with my dog Daisy in the forest near my house. Suddenly, it started to rain.

I decided to go home. The rain got worse so we started to run back to the house. All of a sudden, I tripped and twisted my ankle. I couldn’t get up. Daisy began to bark loudly and ran off.

After an hour, I heard a noise coming from the bushes. It was my dad and Daisy!

I was so relieved to see them. Daisy saved me! It was one of the scariest days of my life!
