[17] tataś ca dhṛ totkaṇ ṭ haḥ sapadi madhukaṇ ṭ haḥ kṛ tā ñ jalitayā nā ndī ṁ paṭ hann akhilam ā nandayati sma |

Then Madhukaṇ ṭ ha in great eagerness folded his hands and recited the invocation, giving joy to all present.

yathā —

ś rī mā n yo bhagavā n svayaṁ vijayate brahmā surarṣ ir mahā n

vyā sas tat-prabhavaḥ parī kṣ id api yā v ugraś ravaḥ -ś aunakau |

ś rī mad-bhā gavata-prathā -praṇ ayinas tā n viś va-nistā riṇ aḥ

ś rī -goṣ ṭ hasya mahiṣ ṭ hatā ṁ prathayituṁ kamrā n namaskurmahe ||10||

The Supreme Lord Kṛ ṣ ṇ a, who remains most excellent, Brahmā, Nā rada, Vedavyā sa, his son Ś ukadeva, Parī kṣ it, Sū ta and Ś aunaka, distribute knowledge of Bhā gavatam and deliver the world. We offer our respects to those attractive persons to spread the glories of Gokula.

tataś ca—

paś cā d alpaṁ tā la-yugmaṁ gṛ hī tvā

gā yantau dvau pā rś vayor mantu-vijñ au |

ś rotā bhrā tā yasya savyetarā gre

so’yaṁ vaktā sarvam uccair didhinva ||11||

Behind and at the sides of the boys, Ratnacū ḍ a and Sumati, expert at advising, began singing while slightly clapping their hands. To the right, Snigdhakaṇ ṭ ha was hearing, while Madhukaṇ ṭ ha became the speaker, pleasing all to the highest degree.

[18] iti prakā re labdha-sā re punar madhukaṇ ṭ haḥ sotkaṇ ṭ haṁ gā yan nṛ tyan tat-tad-bhā vā bhinayaṁ praṇ ayan kathā m abhyā dade |

When this arrangement took place, Madhukaṇ ṭ ha eagerly began singing, dancing and acting, pleasing all as he began the story.
