I. Reading
Zoe Smith, a 16-year-old weightlifter from Great Britain, has won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games. Zoe is the first woman in Great Britain to win a weightlifting medal and this victory has become her great achievement.

Zoe does well at school though she has 5 or 6 trainings a week. Like other teenagers she loves listening to music, spending her time with friends and surfing the Internet. But unlike other girls, she can easily beat the boys in an arm wrestle.

Her family is proud of her and they always support her.

II. Writing
Dear Mum and Dad,
This is to tell you that I'm going to be at home later today. We are celebrating Nick's birthday in a café. Don't wait me for supper. I'll be at home at 11 pm. Nick's uncle will drive me home in his car, so don't worry - I'll be quite safe. I'll give you a call when the party is over.

Dear Mum and Dad!

Thank you for the wonderful holidays you've presented me with this year! For me, spending quality time in the mountains with friends, exploring an awe-inspiring natural landscape is something that I've dreamt of for so long!

We are staying in a lovely privately owned hotel in the popular ski and spa resort of Bukovel. Ours is a standard room with a bathroom, a carpet, a flat-screen TV, an air conditioner, a hairdryer, and a fridge. The room is decorated in the country style. We are provided with towels and cosmetics every day. All rooms in our hotel offer a balcony with scenic views of Shayanski Lake and the Shayan Mountains.

Food is delicious. We have a varied menu of Ukrainian dishes: borshch, varenyky, pancakes with cottage cheese, mushrooms or meat. I like mushroom soup most. It's very special here. We have three meals a day in a café nearby.

We go hiking every day. On the way up the mountain the guides usually tell us interesting legends about the places around. Besides, we've learned a lot about the local flora and fauna.

Nature here is enchanting! The beauty of local landscapes is so unique that even those who have travelled to many parts of the world, who have seen many wonders of the world, will not remain indifferent to the modest and wild beauty of the Carpathians. The forest is believed to be 140-160 years old. This place is ideal for scenic day trips.

There is Solotvyno Lake and the Salt Caves, 60 km away. The Museum of Honey in Mukachevo, a 90 km drive, is also a popular tourist attraction. We're going there on Sunday.
