Normal physiology and physiology of the maxillofacial region.

Normal physiology and physiology of the maxillofacial region.

Theme 1

Practical class 1. Introduction to the Physiology. : A. The Nervous System: General Principles and Sensory Physiology.

The goul of lesson is studying organization of the nervous system, sensory reseptors, reflex principle of central nervous system.

Questions for discussion

1. Information about the department.

2. The subject and his tasks, what he studies, the connection of physiology with other sciences.

3. Organization of the Nervous System. Sensory Reseptors.

4. Reflex principle of central nervous system.

5. The concept of the nerve center, the processes of excitation (spontaneous and induced) and inhibition.

6. The processes of inhibition in CNS. Types of inhibition, their meaning.

7. Principles of coordination of reflex processes: feedback, dominant, commonfinal path.

Components of reflex arc

Practical work 1. Investigation of a (blinking) wink reflex.

For this work you need: cotton wool or a brush from a neurological malleus.

Technique. To call a blinking reflex, touch the cornea of the eye with a cotton wool or swirl to the eyelashes.

Results. Draw a diagram of the reflex arcs of these reflexes. Define the receptive field of the reflex.

Conclusions. The receptive field of the reflex is a set of receptors, upon stimulation of which this reflex will occur.
