Dear colleagues,

In the context of the growing global health crisis posed by the spread of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak and the unfavorable epidemiological situation, the Programme Committee of The Second International Conference, The Synergy of Languages and Cultures: Interdisciplinary Studies,hasmade a decision to hold the conference in an online format.

Due to numerous requests, the registration deadline has been extended until July 15, 2020.

The Second International Conference, The Synergy of Languages and Cultures: Interdisciplinary Studies, will be held at St Petersburg University on September 25-26, 2020, at 7-9 Universitetskaya Embankment, St Petersburg (Russia).

 

 

The conference is dedicated to a discussion of issues in present-day linguistics, interlingual and intercultural exchange and translation, and also research into academic and methodological approaches to the teaching of foreign languages. It will include plenary and panel papers and also workshops.

 

Specialists from the following fields are invited to participate: linguistics, teaching methodologies, translation studies, mass media research, sociolinguistics, literary criticism and cognitive science.

 

The conference will be divided into the following panels:

 

Panel 1: Translation, Translation Studies and Cultural Linguistics. Chair – Assoc. Prof. Svetlana Rubtsova, PhD in Philology, St Petersburg University.

Moderator – Assoc. Prof. Elena Bugreeva, PhD in Pedagogy, St Petersburg University.

 

Subpanel 1: Continuing Education Programmes in Translating and Interpreting and Distance Learning, Moderator - Ksenia Anisimova, Director of the School of Translation and Foreign Languages of St Petersburg University (STFL)

 

Panel 2: Pragmatic Issues in Translation and Management of Translation Processes. Chair – Ilia Mishchenko, Chairman, St Petersburg Regional Branch of the Union of Translators of Russia, Director of the Literra Translation Company (Russia).
