Important questions to ask before booking a hotel room

1. Where is the hotel located? Is the hotel located in a safe neighbourhood?

2. Is your hotel family/ pet friendly?

3. What kind of rooms do you provide? Are the rooms suitable/safe for children? Can extra beds for children be arranged?

4. Does the price include/ reflect all fees and taxes? What’s included in the price? Is breakfast/ Wi-Fi/ lounge access/ business centre access/parking included in the price? Does my stay include free breakfast/ parking/ swimming pool/ laundry service?

5. Is there unlimited Wi-Fi access?

6. Does the room have a refrigerator/ safe/ mini bar/ free Wi-Fi? Does the room have a bathtub or a shower stall?

7. Do you have a rewards program?

8. Where in the hotel is my room located? What will the view be? Can I have a room on a higher floor/facing away from the street? Does the room have a private balcony with seating?

9. How close is the hotel to shopping centres/ restaurants/ public transport/attractions? Are shopping centres/ restaurants/ public transport stops/attractions within walking distance from the hotel?

8. What are the check-in and check-out times?

9. Do you offer pick-up or drop-off service, or other transportation/shuttle services?

10. Do you have smoking/non-smoking floors in the hotel?

11. What are the dining options in the hotel?

12. What are the hours for room service?

13. What’s the hotel’s cancellation policy?

14. What better rate can you offer me? (As soon as you say this, the representative knows you are not willing to pay the price quoted. They’ll never say, “That’s the best we can do” as there are usually promotions or special deals for AAA members or members of certain credit cards. Just ask! )
