Anna is having an interview for a place to study fashion design at university.
Jim So, Anna. Why do you want to study fashion then? Anna Well it’s been something that has interested me since I was a kid. Even when I was about three years old I liked wearing smart clothes (1) ( ). I used to wear (2) ( ) my mother’s evening dresses and go out into the street to play with my friends. They used to laugh at me! Jim I see. So you were fascinated with her clothes? Anna Yes, I couldn’t wait to grow big enough to fit (3) ( ) them. I was such a tiny child though. But now, I’m bigger than my Mum so I still can’t wear them. Jim So when did you start inventing (4) ( ) designs for clothes? Anna I was probably about 11. I would have ideas (5) ( ) some really crazy clothes because I liked science fiction at that time. I think most of my designs looked like they were from another planet! Jim But since then you’ve assembled (6) ( ) some collections? Anna Yes. At school we had a project to design an exciting winter collection with fake fur and leather and stuff. It took me quite a long time to design though. I am not able to just quickly create (7) ( ) designsyet. Jim That is something that comes with practice, so it’s not a problem. Anyway, did you display (8) ( ) the collection? Anna Yes, we had a fashion show. I got my friends to wear the clothes. Of course I had to do some alterations. First they tested them (9) ( ). If they were a bit too big I had to make them smaller (10) ( ) and if my friends were taller than me, I had to make them shorter (11) ( ). Jim Well, that is good experience. And you certainly seem very interested in fashion. So what about your daily clothes? What do you like to wear? Anna Well, usually I prefer to wear casual clothes (12) ( ) although I do like things to be good quality. I don’t like cheap things which break into pieces (13) ( ) as soon as you wear them.
