II. Verbs of mental perception to know, to expect, to suppose, to believe, to consider, to think, to want, would like

I want smbto do+ any inf (6 infinitives)

I expect you to enter University. – I expect you to be helped.

I expect you to be studying (right now).

I expect you to have finished the project by now. – I expect you to have been helped with it.

I expect you to have been learning Chinese all your life.

I expect Pushkin to have learnt French all his life.

I have been studying at school for 11 years

I am glad to see you.

I am glad to have seen you.

I am glad to be speaking with you.

 

Eg.

I want you to enter University.

I believe him to be able to enter University.

I consider him to be an honest man.

I expect them to arrive soon.

I suppose her to know how to do it.

To let smbtodo (Active)            - to be allowed to do (Passive)

To make smbto do (Active)           - to be made to do (Passive)

She let her kids go for a walk. – The kids were allowed to go for a walk.

The kids were lettogo for a walk.
