1. Recent development of tourism

The growth of tourism on an international scale has brought with it problems particularly related to its impact on societies and the natural environment. Popularization of tourism has led to its non-traditional types. Tourism planners began to include socioeconomic and environmental factors in their work; concerns about overdevelopment of coastal regions in Spain, poor resort planning in Pattaya, Thatland, and sex tourism in Bangkok and Manila were all issues that were seen asnegative features.

The tourist potential of Russia is very great. The rich culture, history and nature of Russia is the basis for the growth of popularity of tours in our country. Having a huge tourist potential, Russia occupies a very modest place in the tourist market. However, in recent years, there have been changes: the law of the Russian Federation " on the basics of tourist activities in the Russian Federation" was adopted, licensing and certification were introduced, and the state Duma created a Committee on tourism and sports. The capital is implementing a program to turn the city into an international tourism center.

There are large reserves of educational tourism resources in the country; there are 85, 000 historical and cultural monuments; about 2, 000 museums; about 500 professional theaters; there are a large number of modern cultural and industrial sites, as well as natural monuments of interest to tourists; it will take about a year of continuous participation to see the main attractions of the country.
