Tall boots ⇐ ПредыдущаяСтр 3 из 3 Tall boots Tall boots are perhaps the most common type of footwear in artwork, and were a staple across Eurasia. They are commonly depicted in the art of Sasanian Iran, and are seen in Sogdian painting and art of the Tarim Basin too. They are worn by both men and women.

Only one tall Sogdian boot has survived - the boot from Kuh-i-Surkh, dating to the 5th - 8th Centuries (the boot probably being on the later end of that spectrum). It's made of dark brown leather and has a stamped design up the main tube of the boot. Unfortunately, no details about the seams have been published, and I haven't been able to visit the museum to examine it in person. My own boots are made after these ones.
