KEY RESPONSIBILITIES. Orientation and Transition Lead
Position: International Ambassador – Orientation and Transition Lead Hours per week: 2 hour-24 hour Hourly wage: $13. 35 Effective date: Aug 20 2017- May 1 2018 Eligibility: Open to all post-secondary international students as well as domestic students who have recently returned from an international experience.
Position Summary: The objective of the Student Ambassador position is to assist new and returning international students by supporting their transition needs and engaging them with the Georgian community. As a Student Ambassador, you represent international students on campus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Orientation and Transition Lead · Assist in all orientations (EAP and Post-secondary) listed below: o Post-Secondary Orientation Dates § Fall 2017 Aug. 31 – Sept. 1 § Winter 2018 Jan. 4 – Jan. 5 o EAP Orientation Dates § Fall 2017 · Aug. 30 – Aug 31 · Oct. 25 – Oct. 26 § Winter 2018 · Jan. 3 – Jan. 4 · Feb. 28 – Mar. 1 · Identify the gaps and needs of international students and collaborate with the Ambassador team to address them · Lead new international students in city tours and provide guidance to off campus services · Deliver campus tours · Provide individual support to new student settlement needs (cell phone, banking, bus schedules etc. ) · Coordinate International Welcome Volunteers and assist with supervision during international orientations · Responsible for developing interactive “How to: student series” and arrange for presenter, marketing and promotion · Working closely with the Peer Mentor Program to support and connect students with a mentor · Completing an Ambassador profile highlighting your position
