GREEK MINCED MEAT PIE



The pie has an unusual shape, it looks very elegant, it has an unusual filling.

Ingredients:

Yeast-free puff pastry (frozen) - 500 g

Minced meat - 400 g

Bulb onions - 1 pc.

Tomatoes (frozen / fresh / in their own juice) - 2-3 pcs.

Dry basil - 1 tsp

Egg (for greasing the cake) - 1 pc.

Sesame (for sprinkling the pie) - 1 tbsp.

Vegetable oil - for frying

Salt to taste

Ground black pepper to taste (I do not add, and generally prefer red pepper, cayenne)

Instructions:

1. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onion and minced meat until the liquid evaporates, stirring constantly and breaking the minced meat lumps with a spatula. It is very important. The minced meat must be completely dry and uniform. Add salt and pepper to taste.

2. Add tomatoes and dried basil to the minced meat. This gives the filling incredible juiciness and unusual taste. Tomatoes can be pre-boiled and peeled off.

Stir and cook over low heat for another 8-10 minutes.

3. Defrost the puff pastry. Cut it into strips of about two cm width. Put the dough strips into a baking dish so that the edges hang out of the mold. Densify the dough in the center, close large gaps with the remaining pieces of dough.

Put the meat filling on the dough. Raise the hanging edges of the dough to the middle, covering the filling.

Thus, close the entire top of the pie. Excess dough can be trimmed.

4. Brush the cake with a slightly whipped egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake a Greek meat pie in an oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes - until it becomes golden brown.
