Example:A sort of vapideagerness flitted across Winston’s face at the mention of Big Brother. Anodyne Definition: Inoffensive, unlikely to inspire disagreement. Alternatively, a numbing agent or painkiller. Example:It was their delight, their folly, their anodyne, their intellectual stimulant.
