1. Read the text:                                                   

Scotland.

Scotland is situated to the north of England and it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea.

The name "Scotland" originated in the 11th century, when part of the country was called "Scotia".

The most picturesque part of Scotland is Highland in the north of the country. This is the region of mountains and rivers, small towns and villages. Many beautiful lakes of Scotland are famous for their unique surroundings: one of the largest and most well-known of them is Lough-Ness.

Scotland has always had a separate educational system, legal system and local administration. Its population is a little over 5 million people.

The Scots have their own customs and traditions as well as distinct Scottish ways of speaking English language.
