1. Read the text:

Wales

Wales is noted for its picturesque mountains with the highest peaks of Great Britain, rivers, waterfalls and lakes. It is a peninsula washed by seas on three sides, with the population of over 3 million people. Most of the population live in 3 industrial counties of the south- Cardigan (shire), Glamorgan (shire) and Monmouth.

The mountains protect Wales against cold east winds, so its climate is mild and rainy.

Cardiff is the capital and the largest city of Wales, and it is also the countryʼs main economic, industrial and cultural centre.

The Welsh keep their own language, but in towns mainly English is spoken.
