॥ CATUḤŚLOKĪ ॥

Introduction: This is the tenth of the Sixteen book and the Shortest of them all. It was composed by Shri Vallabhacharyaji in V. S. 1580-82 in Kashi. It was Compossed for the benefit of one of his devotee, Rana Vyas of Godhra in Gujarat. It is one of the most popular and very important book among the Shodash Granta. In it Shree Mahaprabhuji describes some of the most important principal of Pusti marg. It enshrines the principle of the achievement of the Four purushartha, namely Dharm, Arth, Kama and Moksh in a devotees the Though the shortest work of four stanzas, here Shree Vallabhacharyaji lays down the essence of his theology. He advises here how to behave in a devoted life and achieve the four divine goals.

स र ् व द ा स र ् व भ ा व े न भ ज न ी य ो व ् र ज ा ध ि प ः ।
स ् व स ् य ा य म े व ध र ् म ो ह ि न ा न ् य ः क ् व ा प ि क द ा च न ॥ १ ॥

sarvadā sarvabhā vena bhajanī yo vrajā dhipaḥ .
svasyā yameva dharmo hi nā nyaḥ kvā pi kadā cana.. 1..

The lord of Vraja, SHREE KRUSHNA should always be worshipped with al affectionate attachments. This is the only duty of devotee, nothing else, and never in any place. (1)

ए व ं स द ा स ् व क र ् त ् त व ् य ं स ् व य म े व क र ि ष ् य त ि ।
प ् र भ ु ः स र ् व स म र ् थ ो ह ि त त ो न ि श ् च ि न ् त त ा ं व ् र ज े त ॥ २ ॥

evaṃ sadā svakarttavyaṃ svayameva kariṣ yati.
prabhuḥ sarva samartho hi tato niś cintatā ṃ vrajeta.. 2..

This should always be practiced. As God Krushna Himself alone will do all good for devotees. GOD KRUSHNA is definitely omnipotent. Hence the devotee should remain free from worries. (2)

य द ि श ् र ी ग ो क ु ल ा ध ी श ो ध ृ त ः स र ् व ा त ् म न ा ह ृ द ि ।
त त ः क ि म प र ं ब ू ह ि ल ो क ि क ै र ् व ै द ि क ै र प ि ॥ ३ ॥

yadi ś rī gokulā dhī ś o dhṛ taḥ sarvā tmanā hṛ di.
tataḥ kimaparaṃ bū hi lokikairvaidikairapi.. 3..

If the Lord of GOKULA SHREE KRUSHNA is borne in heart in all respects, then what is the use of other worldly goods or happiness of heaven etc to be Achived with the help of worldly functions or rituals prescribed in Vedas? please tell me. (3)

अ त ः स र ् व ा त ् म न ा श श ् व व त ग ो क ु ल े श ् व र प ा द य ो ः ।
स ् म र ण ं भ ज न ं च ा प ि न त ् य ा ज ् य म ि त ि म े म त ि ः ॥ ४ ॥

ataḥ sarvā tmanā ś aś vavatagokuleś vara pā dayoḥ .
smaraṇ aṃ bhajanaṃ cā pi na tyā jyamiti me matiḥ .. 4..

Hence, in my opinion, continuous meditation and devotion in all respects of holy feet of the Lord of Gokula SHREE KRUSHNA should never be given up. (4)

॥ इ त ि श ् र ी व ल ् ल भ ा च ा र ् य व ि र च ि त ं च त ु ः श ् ल ो क ी स म ् प ू र ् ण म ॥
