॥ KṚṢṆĀŚRAYA STOTRAM ॥

Introduction: This work was composed by Shree Vallabhacharya in V. S. 1 570 at Adel and addressed to Bula Mishra of Lahor. It gives the historical Background of his time in India. He describes the worst state of affairs in India at that time, relating to holy places, rituals and their extinct power, the self seeking learned men, the worthlessness of mankind etc., and on the other hand the efficacy of refuge in Shree Krushna. Shree Vallabhacharyaji advocates to take shelter under Shree Krushna and none else but Krushna under all circumstances.

स र ् व म ा र ् ग े ष ु न ष ् ट े ष ु क ल ौ च ख ल ध र ् म ि ण ि ।
प ा ष ् ण ् ड प ् र च ु र े ल ो क े क ृ ष ् ण ए व ग त ि र ् म म ॥ १ ॥

sarvamā rgeṣ u naṣ ṭ eṣ u kalau ca khala dharmiṇ i.
pā ṣ ṇ ḍ apracureloke kṛ ṣ ṇ a eva gatirmama.. 1..

When in this Kaliyuga, with villainous characteristics, all ways of attaining God have vanished and hypocrisy is rampant in people, Shree Krushna alone is my resort. (1)

म ् ल े च ् छ ा क ् र ा न ् त े ष ु द े श े ष ु प ा प ै क न ि ल य े ष ु च ः ।
स त ् प ी ड ा व ् य ग ् र ल ो क े ष ु क ृ ष ् ण ए व ग त ि र ् म म ॥ २ ॥

mlecchā krā nteṣ udeś eṣ u pā paikanilayeṣ ucaḥ .
satpī ḍ ā vyagralokeṣ u kṛ ṣ ṇ a eva gatirmama. 2...

When the country is besieged by Mohmedan invaders and is the home for only sinners, and when people are worried due to torturing of the good people, Shree Krushna alone is my resort. (2)

ग ं ग ा द ि त ी र ् थ व र ् य े ष ु द ु ष ् ट ै र े व ा व ृ त े स ् व ि ह ।
त ि र ो ह ि त ा ध ि द े व े ष ु क ृ ष ् ण ए व ग त ि र ् म म ॥ ३ ॥

gaṃ gā ditī rtha varyeṣ u duṣ ṭ airevā vṛ tesviha.
tirohitā dhideveṣ u kṛ ṣ ṇ a eva gatirmama.. 3..

When the most holy places of pilgrimage like Ganga and others are encircled by only the wicked people, and when the divine sanctity has disappeared from those places, Shree Krushna alone is my resort. (3)

अ ह ं क ा र व ि म ु ढ े ष ु स त ् स ु प ा प ा न ु व र ् त ि ष ु ।
ल ा भ प ू ज ा र ् थ य त ् न े ष ु क ृ ष ् ण ए व ग त ि र ् म म ॥ ४ ॥

ahaṃ kā ra vimuḍ heṣ u satsu pā pā nuvartiṣ u.
lā bhapū jā rthayatneṣ u kṛ ṣ ṇ a eva gatirmama.. 4..

When even the good people are dulled with pride, follow the sinners and aspire only for wealth and prestige, Shree Krushna alone is my resort. (4)

अ प र ि ज ् ञ ा न न ष ् ट े ष ु म न ् त ् र े ष ् व व ् र त य ो ग ि ष ु ।
त ि र ू ह ि त ा र ् थ व े द े ष ु क ृ ष ् ण ए व ग त ि र ् म म ॥ ५ ॥

aparijñ ā nanaṣ ṭ eṣ u mantreṣ vavratayogiṣ u.
tirū hitā rthavedeṣ u kṛ ṣ ṇ a eva gatirmama.. 5..

When due to absence of knowledge of real meanings, the scared hymns are almost destroyed and there is no propriety for observing of vows and when the efficacy and deities of Mantras have disappeared, Shree Krushna alone is my resort. (5)

न ा न ा व ा द व ि न ष ् ट े ष ु स र ् व क र ् म व ् र त ा द ि ष ु ।
प ा ष ण ् ड े क प ् र य त ् न े ष ु क ृ ष ् ण ए व ग त ि र ् म म ॥ ६ ॥

nā nā vā da vinaṣ ṭ eṣ u sarvakarmavratā diṣ u.
pā ṣ aṇ ḍ ekaprayatneṣ u kṛ ṣ ṇ a eva gatirmama.. 6..

When, due to all sorts of interpretations of all ritualistic acts and keepng vows etc., are worthless and when all are in the pursuit of hypocritical attempt, Shree Krushna alone is my resort. (6)

अ ज ा म ि ल ा द ि द ो ष ा ण ा ं न ा श क ो न ु भ व े स ् थ ि त ः ।
ज ् ञ ा प ि त ा ख ि ल म ा ह ा त ् म ् य ः क ृ ष ् ण ए व ग त ि र ् म म ॥ ७ ॥

ajā milā didoṣ ā ṇ ā ṃ nā ś ako nubhave sthitaḥ .
jñ ā pitā khila mā hā tmyaḥ kṛ ṣ ṇ a eva gatirmama.. 7..

It is our experience that Shree Krushna has done away with all shortcomings of people like Ajamila and thus has displayed his supreme greatness. Therfore Shree Krushna alone is my resort. (7)

प ् र ा क ृ त ा ः स क ल द े व ा ग ण ि त ा न न ् द क ं ब ृ ह त ।
प ू र ् ण ा न न ् द ो ह र ि स ् त स ् म ा त क ृ ष ् ण ए व ग त ि र ् म म ॥ ८ ॥

prā kṛ tā ḥ sakala devā gaṇ itā nandakaṃ bṛ hata.
pū rṇ ā nando haristasmā takṛ ṣ ṇ a eva gatirmama.. 8..

All deities are just ordinary. Even the Brahma (Akshara Brahma, abode of Supreme Spirit) is one with limited joy. Whereas KRUSHNA is perfect joy. Hence Shree Krushna alone is my resort. (8)

व ि व े क ध ै र ् य भ क ् त ् य ा द ि र ह ि त स ् य व ि श े ष त ः ।
प ा प ा स क ् त स ् य द ी न स ् य क ृ ष ् ण ए व ग त ि र ् म म ॥ ९ ॥

viveka dhairya bhaktyā di rahitasya viś eṣ ataḥ .
pā pā saktasya dī nasya kṛ ṣ ṇ a eva gatirmama.. 9..

I am deviod of discreet understanding, patience and devotion etc., and much more, I am addicted to sins; I am without any means to achieve GOD. Shree Krushna alone is my resort. (9)

स र ् व स ा म र ् थ ् य स ह ि त ः स र ् व त ् र ै व ा ख ि ल ा र ् ह क ृ त ।
श र ण स ् थ ् स म ु द ् ध ा र ं क ृ ष ् ण ं व ि ज ् ञ ा प य ा म ् य ह म ॥ १ ० ॥

sarva sā marthyasahitaḥ sarvatraivā khilā rhakṛ ta.
ś araṇ asthsamuddhā raṃ kṛ ṣ ṇ aṃ vijñ ā payā myahama.. 10..

He is the omnipotent, the one who fulfils all desires everywhere and who gracefully uplifts all those supplicating to him so I beseech to Shree Krushna (10)

क ृ ष ् ण ा श ् र य म ि द ं स ् त ो त ् र ं य ः प ठ े त क ृ ष ् ण ् स न ् न ि ध ौ ।
त स ् य ा श ् र य ो भ व े त क ृ ष ् ण इ त ि श ् र ी व ल ् ल भ ो ब ् र व ी त ॥ १ १ ॥

kṛ ṣ ṇ ā ś rayamidaṃ stotraṃ yaḥ paṭ heta kṛ ṣ ṇ sannidhau.
tasyā ś rayo bhaveta kṛ ṣ ṇ a iti ś rī vallabhobravī ta.. 11..

For anyone who recites this KrushnashrayamStotram in the presence of Shree Krushna, The God himself becomes his refuge. So said Shree Vallabha. (11)

॥ इ त ि श ् र ी व ल ् ल भ ा च ा र ् य व ि र च ि त ः क ृ ष ् ण ा श ् र य स म ् प ू र ् ण ः ॥

.. iti ś rī vallabhā cā ryaviracitaḥ kṛ ṣ ṇ ā ś raya sampū rṇ aḥ .. (9)

So ends the " KRISHNASHRAYAMSTOTRAM"
