॥ SIDDHĀṂTA RAHASYAṂ ॥
Introduction: The most important work of Shree Vallabhacharyaji. On the midnight of the Eleventh day of the bright forthnight in V. S. 1549, Shri Mahaprabhuji was sleeping on the Govind Ghat of Yamunaji in Gokul. He was worried. He was trying to find a solution to the difficult question of how to associate Jiva with Bramh - Man with God. Man is so full of vices and God without vice or virtue. Than God himself appeared before him and promised that he will accept the service of man whom Shree Mahaprabhuji will give Bramhsamband irrespective of his falling. Shri Mahaprabhuji, in this book says what lord told him on that occasion. Shree Mahaprabhuji offered the Lord the garland of handwoven cotten thread, ancl sang the now famous hyms " Madhurastakam". Next morning he gave first Bramhsamandh to Damodardas Harshani and thus the tradition of Pustimargiya Diksha began. A beautiful introduction to this book is written by Shri Mulchand Teliwala, the noted Scholar. Please read the same for clear understanding of this work. (Suddhadvaita Brahmavada - The Complete Works of M. T. Telivala - by Kedarnath Sharma -1980. ) Shree Vallabhacharya describes in this work what exactly GOD said to him personally about the doctrine of complete dedication of oneself and belongings to GOD, which assures complete extinction of all impurities. He preaches that everything before use should be offered to GOD and one should behave in relation to GOD like a devoted servant of his master.
श ् र ा व ण स ् य ा म ल े प क ् ष े ए क ा द श ् य ं म ह ा न ि श ि । ś rā vaṇ a syā male pakṣ e ekā daś yaṃ mahā niś i. On the midnight of the eleventh day of the bright half of the month SHRAVANA, what GOD KRUSHNA himself said is being told here verbatim. (1)
ब ् र म स म ् ब ं ध क र ण ा त स र ् व े ष ा ं द े ह ज ी व य ो ः । brama sambaṃ dha karaṇ ā ta sarveṣ ā ṃ deha jī vayoḥ . By Brahmsambandh, all the impurities of body and soul of all the people are wiped out. It is said that there are five kinds of impurities. (2)
स ह ज ा द े श क ा ल ो त ् थ ा ल ो क व े द न ि र ू प ि त ा ः । sahajā deś a kā lotthā lokavedanirū pitā ḥ . Impurities recognised by the people and Vedas are (1. ) Those which are natural with Birth. (2) Those arising from place, good or bad place. (3) Those arising from time, auspicious or otherwise time. (4) Those arising from circumstance good or bad. (5) Those arising from contacts with good bad or indifferent Persons or objects, should not be minded at all.
अ न ् य थ ा स र ् व द ो ष ा ण ा ं न न ि व ृ त ् त े ः क थ न ् च न । anyathā sarva doṣ ā ṇ ā ṃ na nivṛ tteḥ kathancana. Without that Brahmsambandha in no other way, all impurities get extinguished. Therefore one should abandon all objects which are not formally offered to GOD KRUSHNA. (4)
न ि व े द ि भ ि ः स म र ् प ् य ै व स र ् व क ु र ् य ा द ि त ि स ् थ ि त ि ः । nivedibhiḥ samarpyaiva sarva kuryā diti sthitiḥ . The correct position is that those who have offered everyhting to GOD KRUSHNA by initiation in contact with Supreme spirit should do everything only after offering to Shri KRUSHNA. To offer semi-used articles to god of gods SHREE KRUSHNA is not considered acceptable. (5)
त स ् म ा द ा द ौ स र ् व क ा र ् य े स र ् व व स ् त ु स म र ् प ण म । tasmā dā dau sarvakā rye sarvavastu samarpaṇ ama. Hence in all activities, everything should first be offered to Hari. The prohibitive dogma viz whatever is given away once cannot be taken back and soalso that which is offered to HARI (KRUSHNA) should not be accepted back, is definitely related to other dogmas and not to us. (6 1/2)
न ग ् र ा ह ् म म ि त ि व ा क ् य ं ह ि भ ि न ् न म ा र ् ग प र ं म त म । त थ ा क ा र ् य स म र ् प ् य ै व स र ् व े ष ा ं ब ् र ह ् म त ा त त ः । na grā hmamiti vā kyaṃ hi bhinna mā rgaparaṃ matama. tathā kā rya samarpyaiva sarveṣ ā ṃ brahmatā tataḥ . 8(a) Just like the relation between a servant and his master in the world, so should all things be done after offering him only. By doing so, everything so offered achieves attributes of the most supreme spirit viz. freedom from impurities (7 1/2)
ग ं ग ा त ् व ं स र ् व द ो ष ा ण ा ं ग ु ण द ो ष ा द ि व र ् ण न ा gaṃ gā tvaṃ sarvadoṣ ā ṇ ā ṃ guṇ adoṣ ā di varṇ anā Just as all impurities coming in Ganga get known as Ganga and thereafter the qualities or otherwise are also described as those of Ganga, so also here in the case of things offered to Supreme Spirit. (8 1/2)
॥ इ त ि श ् र ी व ल ् ल भ ा च ा र ् य व ि र च ि त ं स ि द ् ध ा न ् त र ह स ् य ं स म ् प ू र ् ण म ॥ .. iti ś rī vallabhā cā rya viracitaṃ siddhā ntarahasyaṃ sampū rṇ ama.. (5)
So ends " SIDDHANT RAHASYAM" BY SHREE VALLABHACHARYA. (5)
