Education (SHORT)

1) Education is power.

2) It gives us many opportunities.

3) In Great Britain children start going to school at the age of five.

4) At sixteen they take GCSE exams.

5) After that some students leave school.

6) Others study for two more years and then take 'A' levels.

7) Then they can go to university.

8) The school day starts at nine o'clock.

9) Students study Math, Art, Food Technology, Science and foreign languages.

10) Most students study French.

11) School usually finishes at four o'clock.

12) Most British schools are state schools. They are free.

13) But some schools are independent. Parents pay for children’s education.

14) In Belarus children start going to school at the age of 6 or 7.

15) The school year begins on the first of September and ends in May. It has 4 terms.

16) Between the terms students have holidays.

17) The school day starts at 9 a. m. and ends at 3 p. m.

18) To get GCSE pupils must take 4 exams: Russian or Belarusian Language, Mathematics, History of Belarus and Foreign Languages.

19) After that young people can enter a university.

20) As for me, I study at Lyceum №1.

21) The lyceum wants to develop all abilities of every student.

22) We have some unique traditions like “The Ceremony of Initiation”.

23) We also have several museums – for example, the Museum of sport and tourism.

24) In the lyceum we make friends and develop our character.
