Project

Have you always wanted to help at a festival and develop your artistic talents? Then this is exactly the workcamp for you!
During the first week of the camp you will be taking part in a 3-day freestyle & rap workshop, led by two coaches, which will take place in your accommodation – a youth centre in the “Neustadt” district of Bremen.
During the second week, together with the other participants of the workcamp and young people from the local area, you will be helping out with and performing at the SummerSounds musical and cultural festival, also in the “Neustadt” district of Bremen. You will be helping to set-up and take down the festival and will create your own “worldcamp” inside a yurt. During the festival, on 9^th and 10^th August, you will be responsible for organising a diverse, colourfulprogramme for children and young peopleunder the motto of “Bremer Stadtmusikantensommer 2019” (The summer 2019 city musicians of Bremen). This programme will be taking place inside the yurt and you will have the chance to show off your newly-acquired freestyle & rap skills in front of a live audience.
During the third and last week of the camp you will move to the “Grö pelingen” district of Bremen to help out with a mini-festival, part of the “Europa Zentral” project (under the national initiative “UTOPOLIS – Social Culture in City Quarters”) taking place on 17^th August. You will be helping to design the programe as well as setting-up, executing, and then taking down the mini-festival itself. In this project you will be able to develop your artistic and creative skills around the topics of “Tones, Texts and Storytelling”. There will be festival organisers from the local cultural organisation on-site, as well as the employees and visitors of the Grö pelingen Youth Leisure Centre (where you will be staying) who will support you with these tasks.

The 1, 200 year old Hanseatic city (www. bremen. de) offers many sights, cultural activities, a diverse nightlife scene, various shopping possibilities, but also nearby parks and lakes to relax. On your days off you can go on trips to the North Sea coast, to Hamburg or to other cities.
