LANGUAGE SCHOOLS

Language schools can be divided into 4 main groups:

The first group is tuition in foreign languages (which are a place where the teachers observe traditions). The pupils learn language by means of ordinary. One of them is of two years. The pupils get the knowledge in foreign language down pat (they cram grammar rules). They can write a letter, translate af text, do exercises, but they are not good in fluent speech. They lack practice in English.

The second type is author's schools. In such schools teachers pay more attention to practical language. Pupils study for 4 hours every day. Every class consists of 12-15 persons. They are not given homework. They learn how to behave in different situations, places (in train, at school, at the restaurant). The teachers put more emphasis on conversational language. However, the pupils have a stammering of foreign. They just pick up a foreign language.

The third type of schools is that one where native speakers teach pupils. In this case, the pupils have perfect pronunciation. But their teachers do not know Russian. Actually they are not teachers by training. That is the reason of frequent cases of misunderstanding being observed.

The fourth type is modern language schools for example " Danis School" which has branches all over the world. The tuition is carried out by means of psychological games. The games are based on provocation. All the pupils is taken away.

PRIVATE SCHOOLS

There are 600 private schools in Russia, 250 of them are concentrated in Moscow.
Nearly 16. 000 children study there. They have to pay tuition fee. That is about 200-
422 $ a month. The amount of periods in private schools can not surpass that one in
the ordinary school. There are schools with deep studying of subjects. They are
gymnasiums & lyceums. The level of education in private schools is higher than that
one in state schools. However, not to a great extent. The pupils of state schools
have a good command of maths & the pupils of private schools are good at Russian.

not surpass 10 - 12 persons. There are 5-6 pupils in the group studying foreign language. The teachers care about children. In private schools parents may leave their children till 7 - 8 p. m. The parents have to pay even for summer months when children do not attend school. There are such schools where the tuition fee is over 1000$ a month. The children have private drivers & they are taught to play golf etc.
