·  (50 pts. ) Solve example 14-8 on page 913. Given: Oil formation volume factor – 1. 3bbl/STB, formation thickness – 100 ft, Cross sectional area – 45000ft, Porosity – 30%, Injection rate – 2500bbl/day, Distance between producer and injector – 2500ft, Residual oil saturation, Sor – 10%.

 

Calculate:

· Time to breakthrough

· Cumulative water injected at breakthrough

· Total pore volumes of water injected at breakthrough

Glossary

Water break through- a description of reservoir conditions under which a fluid, previously isolated or separated from production, gains access to a producing wellbore.

Residual oil saturation- is the ratio of the immobile residual oil volume divided by the effective porosity.

Total pore volumes of water injected at breakthrough- is one of the factors for evaluating water flood effect in a water flood oil field.

- surface water/oil ratio(STB\STB)

1bbl=5. 615ft^3 because we calculate it in feet, but we need bbl.
