Well, I haven’t visited any world-famous art museums like the Louvre or the Hermitage so far, however I have my favorite one. It’s the Aivazovsky National Art Gallery, which is situated on the seaside in Feodosia, Crimea.

So, first of all, here are some plain facts, thatare abundantly available on Wikipedia. The Aivazovsky Art Gallery was established in 1845, when Ivan Aivazovsky organized the first exhibition in his house. Soon after that, the building was rebuilt to suite new requirements. The gallery quickly became the third museum in the Russian Empire, after the Hermitage Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery. The gallery has about 12 thousand paintings of marine subjects, including the world’s largest collection of pictures by Aivazovsky. The exposition of the gallery introduces the works of Ivan Aivazovsky, the history of his family and the history of the gallery.

There are many reasons why you might like the Art Gallery. One of them is it’s location: it is situated right on the waterfront, quite a beautiful place, actually. Secondly, the building’sexterior. It is designed in the style oflate XIX century and full of stucco. The next point, and the most important one, is a huge collection of paintings, on diverse themes, and by various artists that is exhibited in the Gallery.

Making the conclusion, I can tell that the Aivazovsky National Art Galleryis a nice place to visit. Even if you aren’t a fan of marine subject in paintings. Therefore, if you’re going to visit some art museum, the Aivazovsky Art Gallery will be a good choice!
