CG 01 Summer on the River – Discover the Italian countryside

Palazzolo sull’Oglio (BS) July 17th – July 28th, 2018

Project Description

The Workcamp will last from July 17th to July 28th. The activities of the project

mainly involve:

Gardening in the Historical Gardens of Palazzolo. The volunteers will clean the

paths from foliage, mow the grass, trim the plants and trees to restore the gardens to their former beauty;

Restoring the dungeons of the medieval castle, clearing them from rubble and

rocks, spreading gravel on the floor to make them accessible from the public;

Installing and painting new fences around the castle’s moat and along the river.

All the work will be done in cooperation with young people of the town, in order to

develop a nice environment and close relations between volunteers and locals.

Free Time and other activities

During the Workcamp there will be a couple of days of free time, when the

volunteers will have the chance to visit some famous cities and places such as: Milan,

Bergamo, Brescia, Verona, Lake Iseo and Monte Isola, Lake Garda and other beautiful locations.

Furthermore, there will be the possibility to take part in some organized activities,

both in Palazzolo and in neighbouring cities: Canoeing on the river Oglio with instructors of the local Kayak Canoa Club;

A visit to some local wine cellars, to see firsthand the production of the renowned

Franciacorta wine and taste it directly from the winemaker;

A tour of the city of Palazzolo sull’Oglio and its lesser known marvels;

Skating in the brand new Palazzolo Skate Park;

A visit to the Lanfranchi factory, world leader in the production of zippers.
