После некоторых глаголов может употребляться inf. to или – ing form с разницей в значении.

Forget + inf. to забыть, не помнить I forgot to call Mr Jones and he was upset.	Forget + V – ing не помнить о прошлом событии We’ll never forget driving in that terrible snowstorm.
Remember + inf. to помнить, не забывать Chris always remembers to lock the door when he leaves.	Remember + V –ing помнить о событии в прошлом He didn’t remember lending me his pen and he thought he had lost.
Mean + inf. to намереваться, собираться George meant to check your report but he was too busy.	Mean + V-ing подразумевать, предполагать Growing up means having new responsibilities.
Regret + inf. to сожалеть о том, что приходится сообщать ч-л неприятное We regret to inform you that flight STP-456 has been delayed.	Regret + V-ing сожалеть о чем-либо He has never regretted turning down the promotion.
Try + inf. to стараться, делать все возможное She tried to carry her suitcase, but it was too heavy.	Try + V-ing делать в качестве эксперимента Try making a list of what you want to buy so you don’t forget anything.
Stop + inf. to остановиться на время с целью ч-л сделать As we were driving through the mountains, we stopped to admire the view.	Stop + V-ing прекратить делать ч-л I think you should stop eating sweets.
Go on + inf. to закончить действие и приступить к новому After he finished his speech he went on to answer the questions.	Go on + V-ing продолжать делать ч-л The student went on writing even after the teacher had told everyone that their time was up.
Hate + inf to испытывать неудовольствие по поводу предстоящего действия I hate to tell you this, but you weren’t selected for the team.	Hate + V-ing не любить то, что приходится делать John hates waking up early.
