Answer Key

I have to do some chores.

Today we will talk about chores and errands. These are small jobs that we do all the time.

Chores are small jobs we do in or around the house: wash the dishes, do the laundry, …

Errands are small jobs we do away from the house: go to the bank, go grocery shopping, …

Look at the chores below and try to say them in English. Practice talking about how often you do the chore.

1. ______________________ 2. ______________________

3. ___________________     4. ______________________

5.  _____________________  6.   _________________________

7.  _____________________ 8.  ________________________

9.  _____________________  10. ________________________

How often do you do these chores?  Which chore is the most difficult? Which do you dislike doing the most? Did you do any chores today?

Now look at some of these errands. Can you say these in English?

1.  _____________________ 2.  ________________________

3. _____________________ 4. ________________________

5.   _____________________ 6.   ________________________

7.   ______________________ 8. ______________________

Try to talk about how often you do these and who does them. Is it always you or does your family help?

We ‘do chores’ and ‘run errands’.   Tomorrow, I have to do some chores. I need to run some errands today.

Teacher’s notes

This is a simple exercise with chores and errands.

First have the students try to say the chores in English. Help them if they get stuck. Then have a short discussion by having the students ask each other how often they do the chores or who in their house does them.

Do the same thing with the Errands on page 2.
