Tokai University Study Abroad Program

(Mid-Term & Long-Term Exchange Program supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, MEXT)

1. Program Outline

Since 2017, a Tokai University’s exchange program called “Fostering Bridge Personnel between Russia and Japan on Life Care for Economic Development in Russian Far East, ” has been elected under the Inter-University Exchange Project funded and supported by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). This is a competitive funding project that aims to foster human resources capable of being globally active and develop educational and research forms of cooperation between Japanese and Russian universities.

 

1. 1 Mid-Term Exchange Program for Fall Semester 2021

In Fall semester 2021 (duration: September-February), each partner university from Russia will be able to nominate five (5) participants in total to the mid-term exchange program. For AY2021, Tokai University will select four (4) participants as a priority group, who will have an opportunity to study at Tokai University and will receive financial support from MEXT (Please see more details in Item 3 “Fees”). These four (4) participants are required to agree that if they become members of the priority group, they will participate in the exchange program even if it will be implemented online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, Tokai University will select four (4) participants as an additional group, who may be able to receive an opportunity to study at Tokai University and receive financial support from MEXT (Please see more details in Item 3 “Fees”) in the case of it becoming possible to physically come to Japan. The applicants, who are not selected as a member of one of the two groups may be accepted as regular exchange students under the current exchange program available between the participant’s home institution and Tokai University, in case of implementation and available quotas in the exchange program.

  After completion of a Spring semester, if participantswill request, he/she may be possible to extendthe period of study forone more semester. In this case, those participants with MEXTfinancial supportare responsible for all costs and expenses individually; however, for the regular exchange student in this program, particular requirements would be depending on the conditions of students exchange agreement.

 

 

2. Educational Plan

         Course load requirementsare minimum 12 credits for one (1) semester. Each participant is required to take at least 12 credit courses to maintain student international student status in Tokai University. The course list will be available three weeks before starting Fallsemester. Each courseistaughtin either Japanese or English, and falls under any of following four(4)elements:

l Japanese Language

l Japanese Studies

l Business/Management/Economics

l Life Care
