Dear Reader,

When my editor Linda Fildew asked me if I would like to write a story for Harlequin’s 60th anniversary, my answer was a resounding and delighted yes. It has been a privilege all these years to write for the world’s largest and best loved publisher of women’s fiction. Another important aspect for me is having been given the priceless opportunity to introduce my own beloved country, Australia, to a global market. That alone has been enormously enriching. My thanks then and my warmest congratulations to Harlequin on its 60th. I know it will be going even stronger when the centenary comes around!

The Blanchard Diamonds of my story were actually inspired by the exquisite collection of a friend whose South African side of the family had a close connection with Cecil Rhodes of De Beers fame. As godfather to a new member of my friend’s family, he gave a fabulous pink-pearl-and-diamond-pendant necklace as a christening present! My friend still wears the necklace along with the showstopping “Blanchard Diamond Earrings. ” I hope this snippet of information adds to your enjoyment of the story.
