This is a special year for Queen Elizabeth the second. She will be 90

this year! She is very lucky because she has two birthdays, her real birthday is on 21^st April and she also has an official birthday on the second Saturday in June. The official birthday is in Summer because the weather will be nicer for celebrations outside.

There will be many events around the United Kingdom between April and June to celebrate this occasion. It is more special because she is the oldest monarch that has ruled and she has been a Queen for a longer time than any other King or Queen. Queen Victoria held the record for being a Queen for 63 years and seven months but now Queen Elizabeth has beaten her record and has been Queen for 64 years and two months until now!

She is the Queen of United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and 12 other smaller countries.

She is married to Prince Phillip and they have four children, Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward. Prince Charles is the oldest so he will become King after her. After Prince Charles, Prince William will be king and then his son, Prince George, so at the moment there are three lines of succession to the throne.

When Queen Elizabeth is not travelling around other countries, she lives in Buckingham Palace which is in the centre of London.

Lots of tourists visit the Palace and you can also buy a ticket to take a tour of some parts of the Palace.

Her favourite cake is chocolate cake and her chef makes this cake for her twice a year for both of her birthdays!
