Royal Philips, commonly known as Philips, is a Dutch multinational engineering and electronics conglomerate headquartered in Amsterdam.

It is one of the largest electronics companies in the world and employs more than 122, 000 people all over the world, and operates in more than 60 countries having sales and service outlets in 150 countries. Research laboratories are located in six countries, staffed by 3, 000 scientists.

It also has an impressive global network of 400 designers spread over twenty-five locations. Itsshares are listed on sixteen stock exchanges in nine countries and it is active in about 100 businesses. Each day its factories turn out a total of 50 million integrated circuits.

Philips is organized into three main divisions: Philips Consumer Lifestyle (formerly Philips Consumer Electronics and Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care ), Philips Healthcare (formerly Philips Medical Systems ) and Philips Lighting. As of 2012 Philips was the largest manufacturer of lighting in the world measured by applicable revenues. Philips has a primary listing on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange and is a constituent of the AEX index. It has a secondary listing on the New York Stock Exchange
