                                                                                                                               ‘LACE HEART

THIS EMBROIDERY DESIGN HAS BEEN DESIGNED & DIGITIZED

TO BE EMBROIDERED AS FREE STANDING LACE

1.   Stabilizer –For the best results, ‘Lace Heart’ should be embroidered on heavy weight hot water soluble Aqua Film (‘Romeo’).

2. Needles ‘Schmetz’ Metallic No. 80/12 or ‘Janome’ Red Tip No. 14 ~ change needle if thread shreds.

3. Thread – ‘ Robison-Anton’ Super Strength Rayon 40 weight thread ‘Snow White’ No. 2297, this thread is also available on 5000 metre (5500 yds) spools, ask for Robison-Anton’ Super Strength Rayon ‘Essense’ – we use ‘Essense’ for testing free standing lace on all supported brands of home embroidery machines.

4.   Bobbin Thread - Use the same thread in the bobbin as on top. Using bobbin fill is not recommended.

5.   Tension - The tension may need adjusting so the running stitches are balanced as for normal sewing.

6.   Hooping - The ‘Romeo’ needs to be at room temperature before hooping. As Aqua Film needs to be

as tight as the top of a drum in the hoop, either wrap your inner hoop with cotton tape or hoop with ‘Hoop Ease’ (a product now available), the use of either also protects the Aqua Film (‘Romeo’) from damage whilst hooping. Use the smallest possible hoop for the lace design to be embroidered.

7. Attaching - Use the same thread and colour as your lace piece, attach to your project using a loose density satin or zigzag stitch of suitable widths, closely following the contours of the lace.
