Who were your childhood heroes and heroines? Why did you choose them? What cultural lessons did you learn from them? ⇐ ПредыдущаяСтр 2 из 2 Who were your childhood heroes and heroines? Why did you choose them? What cultural lessons did you learn from them? To begin with, I`d like to say that I have never had somebody as an absolute hero for me but despite this fact I can sort out a character by whom I was inspired or highly impressed in my childhood. When I first watched the screen adaptation of " The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" I was absolutely amazed and as a result one character stood out for me – it was Gandalf. A mysterious sorcerer who acts alone but is always prepared to lend a helping hand to everyone of his friends who is in need. In the movie he is a brave selfless mage who tries to gain new knowledge and unravel all the secrets that the comprehensive world of Middle-Earth is fraught with. Gandalf is ready to face all the dangers no matter what it is – a huge ancient dragon, a bulky troll or deadly orc and what is also important he always wins not with a help of strength but knowledge is his main weapon. He is like an embodiment of a famous saying which is " Power is inferior to the mind". In conclusion, I want to give an answer on the second question. To my mind, I learned two extremely important lessons from him. The first one is that I should be ready to help my relatives and friends in difficult situation. The second one is the desire to discover new. Moreover, after this movie I began to believe that knowledge is more important than strength.
