Мы говорим study, когда изучаем, исследуем что-либо: мы посещаем занятия в школе, получаем теоретические знания, прилагаем какие-то усилия, чтобы выучить что-то. Например, готовимся к экзамену, учим математику в школе, учим философию в университете

Мы говорим learn, когда мы обучаемся какому-либо навыку и можем пользоваться своими знаниями на практике. Это не только процесс изучения, но и результат. Например, можно научиться кататься на велосипеде, плавать, водить машину, выучить новые слова и стихотворение

Мы можем изучать (study) английский в школе, но так ничего и не выучить (learn), то есть быть не способными применять в жизни свои знания.
