Развивающие: Развивать познавательные интересы за рамками урока.

Воспитательные: Воспитывать толерантность и уважение к разным жизненным укладам.

Ход урока:

1. Warming up.

We speak about the town and community. What does it mean “community”? Do you think it is important to help?

Look at pictures. Which of following can you see in your community?

2. Reading.

What else? What kind of things can we do to help? There is the text about the voluntary work, but where? Is it in Russia, in the UK or in the USA? You will answer this question later.

A. There are many different types of youth volunteer opportunities for teens who are looking for early career experience and ways to serve the community. Volunteer jobs can be found in almost every non-profit organization, at health care centers, community recreation organizations, and public service agencies. Young people, who volunteer can work in an office, work with children, help in hospitals, or perform any number of other jobs, depending on their skills and goals.

B. Youth volunteer opportunities as office and fundraising assistants typically are available at not-for-profit groups. Often, these groups need people to work with telephone calls. To fill these jobs, they typically look for young people who want to earn some jobs experience and help the community at the same time. These jobs can involve routine office tasks like filling and using the telephone.

C. There are also a lot of youth volunteer opportunities for teens who want to work with kids and people with special needs. Volunteer work can be found at nursing homes, day care centers, and social service organizations. Teens will often have the opportunity to work directly with clients and their families, offering general support to the regular staff. Volunteer jobs can include reading to clients, playing games and sports with kids, helping to prepare meals, and going as a chaperone on public outings.

D. For young people who want to get involved in health care, many youth volunteer opportunities are available in hospitals, doctor’ offices, and dental offices. These volunteer positions may include helping office staff, helping health care professionals, transporting patients, and giving out reading materials.

E. Young people looking for youth opportunities to serve their general community often find unpaid community service jobs. These can include cleaning up parks and roadside trash, working in community recreation centers, and volunteering with social service agencies. Teens can also volunteer their time with religious and civic organizations.

F. In some areas, teen volunteer work programmes are referred to as a youth corps. These groups provide both volunteer work experience and room and board for young people. Often, young men and women who have gone through some life challenges and don’t have a clear career path may participate in youth programmes like this.

3. Well, now let us speak about our country. Make a list. How can you help?

Water and soil pollution is getting worse and worse. Who will solve this problem? Of, course, we do, the young generation! We have joined the Eco –helpers club named “Green patrol” What are we doing there? We collect rubbish for recycling. We have been planting trees and cleaning out ponds. There aren’t many trees left in the city for birds to build their nests. If we don’t help them, they will have to leave the city. We build nesting boxes and feeders for birds. Do you concern the global environmental problems? We really need volunteers. Why not come and join in our club?

Every spring in our school there is a charity week of good. There is charity found named Anzhela Vavilova in Kazan. Here is her father opening the children’s hospice. Can you help here answering phone calls?

Summer is the busiest time for shelters because many people simply abandon their pets when they go on holiday. So why not volunteer at your local shelter this summer? Modern community is proud of science and technology. However, in my mind, people forget more important thing to be a human and look after animals. In fact, all of us can help them. Thousands of animals need our support. Teens can look after animals in foster homes or even feed dogs and cats in the streets. We can connect with local organizations and look after animals together. Pets are our close friends and defenders. And we should remember it.

Volunteering is fun and rewarding, but it is also a little more complicated than just showing up and having a good time. Many people who volunteer meet new people with whom they want to stay friends. What do you think of getting involved with important sport events? For example, the Universidad, the Olympiad or World Football Club. In 2018 in Kazan there will be held some matches of the World Football Cup. I hope we will be students of the university in 2018. We all have the chance to volunteer at this sport event.
