We live in the XXI century, the century of new technologies and ideas. People are very busy now, but still a lot of them find time to celebrate different holidays.

All countries celebrate various holidays, and Russia too. For example, the most popular holidays in Russia are Soldier's Day, Women's Day, Victory Day and New Year's Day. They are celebrated by all our citizens.

I think the best holiday is New Year's Day. I celebrate it with my parents, relatives and friends. Everyone gives gifts to each other and wishes all the best for the next year.

As for me, I prefer getting presents, because it's very exciting and I think that everyone is pleased to receive something on a holiday.

There are many public holidays in Russia, when people all over the country do not work. The major holidays are: New Year's Day, Women's Day, Soldier's Day, May Day, Victory Day, and Independence Day.

New Year's Day is celebrated by all Russian citizens. A month before the holiday people start decorating their christmas-trees. On the 31^st of December we cook all day long, and in the evening we set the table. At midnight we greet new year with champagne and listen to the President's speech, and congratulate each other.

In Russia school breaks occur four times a year: in spring, in autumn, in winter and in summer. It is a brilliant opportunity to take some rest from your studies, to gather new strengths and to revise the material learnt.

As far as I'm concerned, I would make winter holidays longer, because we have so much to do during holidays that we don't have enough time for a rest!

Speaking about me, during holidays I prefer relaxing at home, hanging out with my friends, going to the cinema, going for a walk, reading my favourite books.

To sum up, I'd like to say that holidays help people see their relatives more often and tell them how we love them.
