В таком предложении наличие союза обязательно.	не требует обязательного наличия относительных местоимений
The young man who lives upstairs is very friendly. – Молодой человек, живущий над нами (на этаж выше), очень дружелюбный.	The young man (who) you met yesterday lives upstairs. Молодой человек, которого вы вчера встретили, живет над нами (на этаж выше).
