Baki State University was organized in 1919 by the decision of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors study in different faculties. University campusconsists of dormitories, lecture halls, seminar rooms, canteens, well-equipped laboratories, libraries, photocopying rooms, sport halls, student centres and departments(=chairs). Libraries provides students with various text books, manuals and the others. Students may take books to use them at home which they need for their study. In lecture halls projection screensmay be used for large displays. In rooms you can see lecternsas well. The teaching stuff of Baki State University include principal(=rector), dean, department chair(=head of department), supervisor, associate professor, tutorand professors(lecturers or seminar leaders=seminar instructors). All university courses are organized according to the curriculum and each course has its own syllabus.Subjects are divided into science and arts(=humanities).If a student doesn’t have enough money to pay his tuition fees,he can take out the loan from the bank, then pay off the loan. In university you study for a degreein mathematics and receive a bachelor’s degreein mathematics. Students go to lectures(seminars, laboratory course, tutorial or colloquium), take notes or make a photocopy of something, write essay(thesis, course paper, coursework, dissertation), prepare presentation, give a presentation, work in groups, take part in discussions,submit(=hand in)their works, do the reading in large and light reading halls of the library, carry on their research work in computer suppliedrooms, sit(do, take, pass, fail, resit) an exam. They also can be absent from class, skiptheir lesson or drop out of university. Teachers assign(=give assignments),collect, check, hand out students’ works, give lectures, give handouts(materiallar vermek), lead seminars, and they also give their feedback. After graduating from university students wear gowns, mortar boardsand at the end of the ceremony they throw their caps in the air.
