SPEAK

TELL

2. tell the truth · If Dan is telling the truth, the others are in danger.
3. tell sb. straight btell someone the true facts or your true feelings · I told her straight I wasn’t coming.

9. tell the difference · Margarine and butter? I can’t tell the difference.
10. tell sth. from sth. · Amateurs may be unable to tell fake from the original painting.

TALK

 

1. talk sense bto give sensible opinions about things · He is a little old-fashioned but he talks a lot of sense.
2. talk rubbish \ nonsense \ crab bused to tell someone that what they are saying is silly and completely wrong · - Mr. Smith, our office is too cold. - Don’t talk such rubbish. I suppose you’ re looking for an excuse to avoid work.
