1 AIM AND PURPOSE
1.1 To seek the Board’s endorsement of the Staff Care policy in situations of Domestic Violence.
2 ACTION FOR THE BOARD
2.1 To endorse the policy.
3 RECOMMENDATION 3.1 To endorse the Staff care policy in situations of domestic violence.
4 KEY STRATEGIC ISSUES FOR THE BOARD TO CONSIDER
4.1 The endorsement of the ‘Staff Care policy in situations of Domestic Violence’ by the Board is an essential safeguard. It provides reassurance to all workers, of the support available to them both internally and externally should they be experiencing domestic violence.
5 FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
5.1 An additional 3 days leave may be granted to staff who are experiencing urgent domestic stress as a result of domestic violence. This cost will be met from Regional budgets.
6 RISKS
6.1 None specific
7 DIVERSITY IMPLICATIONS
7.1 The policy acknowledges that domestic violence can occur in same sex relationships and to men by women. It also acknowledges domestic violence within extended families.
8 TRAINING IMPLICATIONS. 8.1 HR Advisors will raise awareness of the policy within their regions.
