2. What do you think people should do to protect the environment?

Our nature is extremely fragile and people must take some actions against pollution. Air pollution can be reduced if plants and factories use effective filters. Green zones around big cities should be created to produce more oxygen. Natural resources such as land and water should be used economically.

Even the problem of the global warming can also be solved – if we reduce the energy consumption.

3. What would you like to ask your British friend about measures that are taken to protect the environment in Britain?

1) What measures are taken by your government to protect rare animals and birds?

2) Are there any green parties in Great Britain?

3) What do you do to cope with water pollution?

4) You try to improve the air condition in big cities, don’t you?

4. A friend of yours wants to develop a programme to protect the city where he lives. Give him a piece of advice.

First of all I recommend to talk with ecologists about your city’s local problems. Then it would be easy to plan some activities. Sometimes financial support is necessary. That’s why looking for some sponsors may also be necessary. But the most important thing is to inspire (вдохновить) people to take part in this programme. Everybody can do something. We could reduce energy consumption by turning off lights, turning down heaters and air conditioners, building more efficient buildings, shutting doors, spending less water. Those are simple actions which all people can do.

5. Green School of the Year contest is held in the country and you want your school to enter it. Give ideas for some ‘green events’.

You can tell people about the most dangerous ecological problems by making a short documentary or a video presentation. And you can make an example by organizing a campaign for recycling or energy saving. You can plant new trees and collect rubbish. Besides, some charitable events can help to get money for ecological organizations.
