2020 in Russian-Korean Relations: Socio-Economic Aspect

Abstract: Despite the generally calm economic and political relations, Russia and the Republic of Korea met 2020 with a number of problems associated mainly with the economic troubles that Russia has been undergoing since the end of 2014. The COVID-19 pandemic provoked socio-economic and political crises of a truly global scale, against which the problems of Russian-Korean relations are not so significant and noticeable, although the absolute and relative economic losses of both sides are very large and difficult to account for. Although at the moment the economic and political situation is still unstable, there are hopes that in a relatively short time, bilateral relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea will not suffer significant damage, but, on the contrary, will strengthen in the fight against a common disaster.
